  • Thanks. I know everything works out the way it's supposed to, but it's pretty frustrating until you know how and when ::(:

Good luck to you as well, and thank you for the friend request :)
NP. Just beware that the better you get at languages, the harder it is to adjust to accents, lol. I work around a bunch of Chinese people and I have a much harder time understanding them than the rest of my coworkers because I've been programmed to think in proper English. Same goes for small childrens' speech.
Most people would tell you to take technical writing classes, like argumentative writing. It helps, but I learned most of my writing techniques through literature classes that required a couple of papers and where tests are in essay form. I've taken American Lit, British Lit. You basically analyze different stories, which strengthens comprehension skills and opens you up to different styles of writing. Right now I'm taking History of the English Language, which helps a lot because you learn how writing evolved and how vocabulary/grammar changed throughout the years, which does wonders to change how you view sentences and word structure. I took a poetry class last year; it was hell, cause I'm not particularly creative and they made me read all my poems aloud and then I had to sit there while every classmate, one by one, critiqued it. It does help to broaden the way you communicate, though, and it helps you see all the different interpretations that can be found in language.
Oh definitely, writing has allowed me to express my thoughts much more easily than if I hadn't picked up an advanced understanding of English. Sometimes I wonder if my sentences make sense to others but most of the time, I know what I'm saying and I mean exactly what I say, so I don't have many moments where I have to explain myself. My professors taught me that when I write, I have to be specific and not general, and I better be able to back up what I say, so that's why I tend to give long, descriptive posts. It's become a habit for me to tell a story instead of just saying "yeah, I do that, too" lol.

However, when I start feeling anxious or overwhelmed I can't speak very well at all, so being able to write doesn't really help much when it comes to speaking in stressful situations. But if I'm relaxed, I speak the way I write. People at work used to tell me to quit using big words, like "articulation" which I think is a moderately sized word but hey, whatever floats their boats :)
Yes I agree Mack, that most people don't understand what it is like for somebody like you and I trying to keep a job due to SA.
Hi Mack and thanx for your message by the way. My days are always the same, staying home as I'm currently unemployed due to SA. I want to be able to work, however the anxiety of worrying what others may think of me, makes it hard to hold down any sort of job at the moment. Do you find it hard to stay in work due to SA?.
Of course. Hehe, it's Zarachi Kenpachi from Bleach (an anime) depicting the KFC guy :D A friend sent it to me over msn. Thought it would be a good placeholder until I get a real pic of there.
Very kindly. In fact, I think it's about time that I take advantage of it and live alittle. How are you doing?
Hi Mack and welcome to my list of friends by the way. Sydney had a huge dust storm last Wednesday and it looked like the end of the world as the atmosphere had turned red in colour and couldn't see a darn thing in front of you. Almost everyone who I had seen walking the streets of Sydney had a face mask on including myself as I walked across the Harbour Bridge that morning and it was bizzare I can tell you my friend.
Hi Fear of People. I'm actually from the U.S., born in California, specifically. I heard there was a serious sand storm in Australia though. Everything alright with you?
