Please note, that many of these resources were copied and pasted (shamelessly stolen) from a resource thread from another social anxiety forum. While I did prune through the resources for links that are no longer active, I have not researched how up to date the sites are, nor did I really review/evaluate how good the resources are--this was sometimes due to language barriers, but mostly this is because of a lack of time. Please examine any of the sites that may pertain to your region, and let me know if there are any that need to be edited/removed/updated. I simply don't have the time to do this myself, and I'll need some help from the community.

Existing sources aside, there are always more that can be added. If you have suggestions/additions, please let me know!

This is a very useful resource. Perhaps the mods might consider pinning it ?

They already have. The reason why I continue to respond to it is so that it shows up at the top of the home page in the "recent posts" section. I think that helps to keep it accessible. Otherwise, you have to deliberately click into the "depression" subform in order to find it, where it is at the top of the page. That's still rather accessible, but...whatever. *shrugs*

Yes, having something like this very present on the face of the forum would be a very good move in my opinion. Particularly given the nature of it's denizens. Great post Zharl!

Unfortunately, there are technological limitations to that, so asking for that is a bit of a moot point, and would only serve to be bothersome. I've already pursued this as far as it would go. I make sure to reply to this thread every so often to keep it current, but that is about the best I can do. Thank you for the support, but unless you have additional resources, questions, suggestions, or concerns about the content of this post, please don't continue to post in this thread!

I'm sorry if I'm coming off as a bit curt, but I don't want to clutter the thread with erroneous posts, nor do I want to annoy the powers at be, as I'm already technically "necro-posting" when I post my weekly responses, even if I do delete the old responses.

Thanks for your understanding!

Mental health

At the end of this article there is also a list of mental health services from around the world.

Thanks for the contribution! I haven't gotten the chance to look at it yet, but as soon as I can, I'll update the OP with any resources the article has to offer.

Alright! The thread is finally updated!

Thanks to everyone who has added to this thread! I especially want to thank hoddesdon! Evaluation and confirmation of existing sources is especially useful, as I don't have the time to delve into each of these sources individually.

I'd also like to thank Hoppy for directing me to a substantial number of additional resources!

I'm wondering if there's any other Portuguese fellas on the forums, and want them to know they can come to me if they're in trouble.

Sacrament, you're awesome, and I think you're a great dude. That being said, this post is for outside resources and organizations. Might I suggest posting a thread of your own, offering to help out?

Or alternatively, if you have a resource that is region specific to Portugal, I would happily update the OP and include it. The other nice thing about having a professional organization is that many of them are available 24 hours a day. It's great that you want to help out, but it's not fair to impose that responsibility on you. :D

Oh no, I wasn't trying to act as some sort of savior! I suppose this was the wrong place to wonder if there are other folks from Portugal here.

But now that you mention it, you can add this to your links: Telefones úteis - Sociedade Portuguesa de Suicidologia

I do think I'm the only one from Portugal at the moment though. And thanks for the kind words!

You could try to establish a more active community. I mean there is a SPW France and Italy. I'm not sure what would need to be done to get something similar for Portugal.

Otherwise, you could try to do a message that is reaching out. I see people do that all the time. You know the "Anyone from ________?" posts.

Anyway, thanks for the additional support system! Every little bit helps!

Yeah I think I've actually started one of those threads, but no one replied. I think there's one or two people from Brazil, but that's it. There was a kid from Portugal a few years back and we actually exchanged messages quite a bit because he was gay and was trying to find a way to tell his parents. I tried to help him but then he just stopped messaging back.

That's unfortunate. I'd be happy to help you brainstorm...in a PM or chat, as this is cluttering the thread a little bit, I hope you understand. ::eek::

You want to know how I got these scars?
In Australia, Lifeline has existed for over fifty years and is a reputable organization; so is
beyondblue.

I rang the beyond-blue help line, mens help line and lifeline a few days ago to speak to someone whilst I was in the midst of a deep well of depression.

None answered. All put me on hold for over 20 minutes. Made me think it's some kind of a sick joke..

Not good enough.
