Date in the Park

Met a woman for a date in the park today. After 3 hours of walking and talking my hands remained bone dry. Not a drop of sweat. All the sweat by passed my hands and went to the feet.

This means that treating my hands using Dehydral just before ionto treatment, then using the Odaban and Antihydral together before bed time actually worked. I even had to hold her hand helping her up a steep surface and yet not a drop on my hands. I did actually feel phantom sweating. That's the feeling like your sweating, yet your actually dry. It's that pre-tingly feeling we get in our hands that's right before the down pour.

It's the second time I've met with this woman in a non-group situation. Some people we just feel incredibly relaxed with. My feet on the other hand felt otherwise being wet as rain.

Yes, I noticed that my hands have stains on them mixed in with white chalky looking stuff. I'm not going to use it everyday anymore. I'll use it when I know I'll be spending time with people. It's wild how well it works combined with Odaban. Maybe your daughter can try the 2 of them together?

Good idea. Dehydral worked perfectly for her but I remember they went a vibrant yellow..this took a month to get rid of x

My hands have a brownish and white tint. It seems to really dry out the top layer of skin. Maybe have her try it again? Better a little yellowing and dryness than the alternative.

That's great news Sprawling. I'm glad things went well on the date. Outdoor settings are ideal because the breeze helps dry out sweat.

Wow, congrats! That sounds like a good treatment. I'm interested in trying it. I also agree that some people we just feel more relaxed with. I have experienced this as well as extra excessive sweating (is that possible lol? :) ) with people that I'm not relaxed with or don't like.

Sometimes our bodies know more than we do... if that makes any sense? If our HH is subdued around certain people, that's a good sign. It's also not unusual for our bodies to go through an adapting phase with new people that we meet. As we get used to the presence of a person or said situation our bodies adapt. Sometimes our bodies never adapt. In my younger years my body never adapted to going to school and being around masses of people. Life was a sweaty hell.

That's great Sprawling! Maybe I'll add some of those to my line-up. I hate that tingly feeling, I've asked people without hyperhidrosis if they get that and apparently no one "normal" does. I wonder where it comes from.

Awesome and congrats! It's always nice to hear a positive story of one's success! I hope you have many more victories. Thank you for sharing! :)

Funny you mentioned the "phantom" sweating...I get that too even if the treatment is working.

Congratulations Sprawling!! I'm happy to hear that almost everything went well. Although the feet were the drawback, at least you have other options to keep that at bay.
Feeling anxious about being with someone or around people when you know there is a good chance you will sweat, always sucks.
I know that anxiety and it usually is accompanied by my inner voice chanting, "Please don't sweat! Please don't sweat! Remain calm or she'll notice!".

By the way that never helped! ::eek::

That tingly sensation before you start sweating, happens to me also. I've run to the bathroom immediately after feeling that and checked to make sure that everything was dry. That tingling always happens, but my feet always stay dry!

That's why we term it "Phantom Sweating."
Gosh, How I hate that voice that plays in the head that tells us to stay dry. Somebodies Deity must have uploaded a virus in our brain. Please make the voice go away!

My voice goes like this... "Oh God, No...No, not now. Please please please, not now. Dammit, here we go again. Can I please get some extra napkins? I'll be right back, I need to go to the restroom"

I find there is somewhat of a difference in sweating level depending on the company I'm in. With some people you simply know it's all good and they're not going to fault/critisize you if you do something silly or don't have the exact right clothes on or (also a big problem) you actually happen to do something very well (haters gonna hate). You're naturally more at ease with them and it shows in the sweat level...I also find that when there is a social occassion it is always the beginning (saying hello, or even driving up to meet everyone etc) where the sweating is at its worst...then after a while it oftentimes gets less as the day/night goes on (mind you, gets less...it never really leaves in my case as I know with the slightest excitement good or bad there the HH is again).

Anyway pics or it didn't happen :D ...I kid...hope she's cute and that it continues on nicely for ya sprawling.

I had the phantom sweating for a while, but even that appears to have gone away... I remember a few times "knowing" that my hands were sweaty again and then being shocked when I felt how dry they actually were. The mind can be very convincing...

Congrats on the date. Must be the good karma from all the people on here your knowledge has helped and given hope to.

Good luck on the dating and hope the success of the treatments continues!

The thing I like the most about this post is not the tedious dandy story about hand holding but the term 'phantom sweating'. Well done, that is indeed a sensation i regularly incur when popping the Glyco (causing a quick back brush with the hand) and I now have a word for it.

One other point, when my hands sweat rather than holding my girlfriends hand I say 'I don't want to hold hands because my hands are sweating right now. Radical I know but it works.

I was thinking of bringing a date to "Sweat fest 2013." I encourage you all to attend and meet some really cool slimy people.

When I reflect upon the biggest challenges over the years with sweating hands, relationships are not high on the list. Being with a women is the easiest. Most of the women I've been with never really had a problem with my sweaty hands. I was self conscious, yes. Overall problem, No. My first long term relationship was at 19. We dated for 8 years. Every time we went to a social event my girlfriend would stick paper towels under her armpits. We used to laugh about it.

These days if my hands are sweaty in a social setting, I will just tell whomever that my hands are to sweaty, sorry I can't shake your hand. Really strange, most people don't question it. I guess they are grateful that they weren't slimed.
