Does anyone else like going to the movies?

So I saw a couple of good movies this year and realized I really liked going to the theater during the day. Firstly, it's much cheaper. Secondly, it can be virtually empty. And thirdly, I come out feeling like I just had a mini vacation before noon.

I took a break for a few months and missed some things I wanted to see.
Right now I'm looking forward to Wreck it Ralph, Lincoln, and Flight. I might have to catch Argo already too.

Is anybody else looking forward to any movies out now or coming soon?

I'm in the dark about most upcoming movies, but I did see a trailer for Lincoln and that looks like it could be fantastic. Normally I am hesitant to see movies in the theater due to the expense, unless it's pretty much certain that the film is high quality. Never gone alone before either. Sounds like it could be worth a shot though.

Lincoln sounds exciting, and I want to know how Twilight ends (out of curiosity, not out of fandom), but these days, I'm busy saving every penny that I have. I can't spend them on movies.

I did not go to the movies this year at all, nobody to go with and I don't feel okay going alone. :sad:
I watch films on my laptop.

I for some reason thought it was a good idea to go to Skyfall alone, because I really wanted to see it and my girlfriend didn't want to when I visited her. But it was very packed, so I felt really self-concious. I felt myself noticing some people staring at me and thinking "he's alone". Even though it may not have been the case, it made me feel a bit uncomfortable, self concious and lonely.
Every laugh and talk I heard behind me felt like it was directed at me.

So I will probably not visit the cinema when it's busy ever again.

I love movies but Im not a big fan of theaters. First the prices now adays are outragous and I am not big on crowds. I do go on occasion though

Yeah, I like this, too. It is like a mini vacation, and then you walk out of the cinema and you're bombarded with daylight.

I recently saw Taken 2 and Paranormal Activity 4 on my own - something I would never do, as I thought seeing movies by myself would make people stare and judge me, but after these two I realised that it's not so bad and, dare I say, I actually prefer it.

i go to the movies about once a week, just saw Wreck-it Ralph last weekend (adorable and awesome movie). unfortunately it was super crowded and full of little kids so i felt out of place lol. usually when i see movies the theaters nearly empty.

but im looking forward to seeing the Hobbit next month. i want to see it soooo bad!

It's funny, and maybe it's a regional thing, but I never realized the stigma associated with seeing a movie alone. The first time I did it I told a friend of mine at the time and he thought I must have lost all my marbles to go alone. A few years later he was doing it all the time by himself too lol.
Whenever I go in the day I see small groups but plenty of lone people too. I always assume they're just trying to sneak in me time in this busy city, or taking an extended lunch out of the office or killing time between some other important, bustling thing they have to do. I find it almost therapeutic.

I almost forgot about Skyfall. Casino Royale was one of the first I went alone to. I don't think I can skip this one.

I love going to the cinema but not alone. Alone I'd rather wait for DVD releases so I can rent it or something. Currently I'm looking forward to Iron Man 3 and The Dark Knight Rises.

And also Rise of the Planet of the Apes 2, Cloud Atlas, Thor 2, The Hobbit, Man of Steel and Looper. I'm also still looking forward to the new Jurassic Park trilogy.

Oh it's been rumoured for years that they were going to continue Jurassic Park. But for the longest time it was unsure it was ever going to get the green light.

But now they've mentioned a release date for summer 2014. It's said to be a direct sequel, not a reboot. It's also rumoured that the dinosaurs were out of the park now, which I found a rather interesting idea. It'd be cool if they took over the planet somehow.

Steven Spielberg isn't directing it, but is still around as a producer. It's also not confirmed whether it's going to be another trilogy, but I'm optimistically believing it anyway. ;3

Once I am sitting down and the movie has started, I like watching movies in the theater. I don't like buying tickets, especially just one. Finding a seat, not a favorite pastime. Sitting next to people I don't really know, or in front of or behind, would also rather avoid. Not having someone to whisper annoying comments too throughout the movie, probably for the best but would still be missed. Getting up to leave dazed and tired - like dazed and tired feeling, not the crowd of people to walk through alone.

So in summation, I want to buy a movie theater, with special screenings only for me. I can do this with all the money I have from that lottery I won.

I have been going to movies alone for a couple years now. It was weird at first, but now I'm totally comfortable with it. I just went to see Skyfall yesterday. The other people are there to watch a movie, not to look at what you are doing, besides often I'm not the only person who is there alone.

Main upcoming I have to see are Skyfall & Hobbit.

Went with many girlfriends, driving out of town to a big cinema. DVD has taken over, while we rented these for home, as it was a convenience. Last time in a cinema with my most impressive, Turkish girlfriend with perfect English, was in 2007, watching Bourne Ultimatum

It's clear that loneliness provides movie & music entertainment, but both need the enhancement of doing it all together. Even tonight there is a choice to meet my best friends on a Saturday at a free party - the ultimate life during two decades; I've decided not to make the effort of calling to find out the details, so I could drive 50 miles to be there, but waiting for someone to call me, to inspire me. I know I'm not so socially appealing these days.

I saw the 10am showing of Skyfall this morning. The theater is not a trigger for me. The only times I don't like it are when someone's directly behind me, as I can't comfortably recline and feel I have to move my head out of view. Or when there are cute girls in my vicinity, which is always a bit of a trigger for me.

My theater was packed. I sat in the 4th row-ish, with one person in front of me, also alone. I used to be afraid of people staring, until I started looking up from crowded buses and realizing how absorbed people are in what they're doing. Now I'm just envious of that.

Oh, this is great news. I like Jurassic Park so a 4th movie, which has been in production hell for so long, is going to kick ass. Still have to wait over a year for it, though. Ugh.

On that Wikipedia page: He also stated that the "dinosaurs with guns" idea was nothing but a rumor and is not the story for the new film. LOL

I had no idea there was going to be another Jurassic Park movie. Holy crap. I somehow doubt it will be any good, but who knows, they may surprise us.
