Nightmares!

Medication? Drugs? Unresolved issues? Post traumatic whatsy what? Too much night time cheese? Watching horror movies?

Post or PM one and I'll have a go at interpreting it.

There's a few types. One is the 'end of the world' scenario where it'll usually be only myself and a handful of other humans running away from monsters or demons. The other type is fighting off demons on my own or being chased by them. There's some others like a faceless man in a yellow raincoat.

I don't think I've had anything that can count as a traumatic experience and this happens almost everytime I go to sleep, even if I've not watched a horror movie for ages. Sometimes, even just trying to sleep will bring up these horrible images.

I have had some bad ones lately, where i end up getting possessed by a demonic entity, fun fun eh? and i didn't watch any horror movies, i don't do drugs, i wasn't drinking, etc. etc. and i was trying to tell my husband to wake me up i was screaming it in my dream but i couldn't wake up and he couldn't hear me.. it was aweful... but i tried to analyze it and figure being possessed in a dream probably means that i feel out of control within my own mind and i am afraid of losing control in my life... but gee, why does my subconscious have to create such scary scenerios!!!..

Do they always happen? I mean do the nightmares always occur in your sleep?

I wanted to make a thread about dreams before. Since last year, I've started dreaming insanely much. Like every single night I have 3 or 4 dreams and every one of them is long as hell and ridiculously detailed like a movie. Not to mention how weird they all are. Not all of them are nightmares, but alot are; and the ones that are not are usually still disturbing one way or another. And I usually remember 1 or 2 of them during the day. But they are just really long and many that sometimes when I wake up, it takes me a minute or so to remember my real life.

Yes, they do. I don't have them often, but when they do, it messes me up for a whole day, as i am usually crying hard in the dream and it just puts me in a mental fog for the day, feeling alone and out of it, like no one else understands..

Also, I think this may be helpful. That site in general is pretty helpful to me.

Is it possible to have daymares? if so I can definitely say I get those in between my constant daydreaming.

What I meant was that do you sometimes sleep and have no nightmares. I have nightmares almost every single day (or night lol) and I sometimes wonder if that's normal.

Oh, that makes a lot more sense. I think it's normal to dream every night, good or bad. All nightmares all the time isn't super normal I don't think, but it's not terribly uncommon, especially if something is troubling you in life.

I'll either have a nightmare or one of those dreams that you wake up laughing or just like "W.T.F.....", but mostly WTF dreams. At some points I dream something that I've dreamed before or feel that I've dreamed before.

Never taken meds or drugs of any kind so that's out of the question with me :b

Rarely these days, but I do enjoy all dreams, even the bad ones. When I was a kid I had a reoccurring nightmare where I was a pawn on a chess board and all the other pieces were ominous. The weirdest one I can remember is a lucid nightmare where I wanted to wake up but the paralysis during sleep prevented me from doing so.

Just last night I had more than 3 long as hell dreams but the last one and the one I remember most is one where I worked as a detective or something in a murder where me and the guy I worked with find out in the end that the murderer is a little kid. 3 or 4 years old. I remember the ending very clearly.

Are you on any meds atm?
I only have severe and frequent nightmares when I am on this med I have taken on and off for many years now.
Whenever I've stopped the med in the past, the horrific nightmares stop. As soon as I have needed to go back on it, bang! the nightmares come back.
It's a trade off.

Sometimes when I lay down to sleep, I'll drift off and start dreaming without realizing it.
