Nightmares!

I don't know why people get nightmares.

My dreams always tend to be weird. I don't know if I have had nightmare or not because I consider dreams to be an enjoyable experience no matter what they're about.

I have had dreams where:
I kill my family members
Seen someone kill another person and then themself
I travel back in time
I get arrested
I see my grandfather come back from the dead
I get a girlfriend, but then I die
I'm in a room with a girl and she slits her wrist

Those are just a few. I don't know if they are considered "nightmares" or not.

@BlueDays: Well... no meds, no drugs or alcohol either for me...

And lol.. I just had a strange dream that was actually not a nightmare, though it's scary in other ways... I was forced to decide which woman (out of three) to spend time with. One looked like a hideous witch and the other two were pretty. Somehow I chose the witch and she took off her mask to unveil a beautiful woman while the other two were revealed to be terrible people...

Lol... I've no women in my life right now... so.. it's kind of strange...

My sleep has been troubling me for a while now. As a youngster I was seriously afraid of the dark or rather what "lurks" in it. It took me a long time to sleep because of how terrified I was, but when I did fall asleep it was restful and peaceful, and usually I woke up feeling quite refreshed. As I got older my fear of the dark diminished, however my sleep became filled with subconscious fears usually related to my fear of going to school. I would wake up feeling unrested and went to school still tired.

Nowadays, my sleep has become more of an extension of my fear of going to school. I'm not in school anymore, but I still dream of past trauma related to school, and all the regretful situations which became of it. Plus to add to that I have my current fears and obsessions which prevail in my subconscious and it makes sleeping difficult, because my dreams seem to reflect my unresolved issues, and since I have many, my dreams play a huge role in the quality and amount of sleep I have.

It's not so much nightmares but more a trance of unresolved and somewhat disturbing issues. It makes feeling rested very difficult and I seem to lack any restful sleep. I have to admit though that when I do have a lovely dream the vividness make the experience even greater. It's a pity that great dreams are very rare, and somewhat disturbing ones are frequent.

For the last 3 nights ive been having some pritty intense dreams. cant rember much of them but when I wake up im in a really weird mood, its allmost like i dont know where i am for a few minutes. I only rember bit of them tho, the most racent one had me in the back seat of a speeding car thats after been driven into the river and i was traped inside as the car sank. strangely enough all these dreams had something to do with drowning.

Why would a person have the most horrific nightmares all the time? Does anyone experience this?

I have really bad nightmares all the time. I don't know why they happen, but I'm guessing it has to do with past trauma in my life and my mind is still trying to work things out.

I have awful nightmares all the time. Its because of post traumatic stress from when I was in a car accident. I have alot of reoccuring nightmares of the actual accident itself but most of them are from after the crash when I was trapped inside the car by myself. I get an overwhelming and helpless feeling in these nightmares. Its an awful feeling and is basically driving me to becoming an insomniac. Plus I pump myself full of drugs sometimes so I dont even remember the dreams or nightmares so I can actually get a full night sleep. Its works every now and then but then I just feel like **** the next day anyway. Its horrible being haunted by your past.
