Afraid To Post Pics Online

The problem I have is I'm horribly afraid to post my picture online on any dating or social networking sites. But this might be this best way for me to find a girlfriend, which I desperately want.

I've been told that I have above average looks, but it doesn't have anything to do with that. My fear is people that I know will see my profile and ridicule me.

I found out I'm actually good talking online with women. I recently put up a fake profile with a photo of someone else to test out. The guy was similar looking to me. I wasn't expecting any success but the girls I chatted with responded well to me.

Can anyone offer me some advice?

There's a tiny tiny chance of anyone that knows you seeing your profile so you really shouldn't worry about that and plus i don't think anyone would ridicule you for it anyways, loads of people go out in the aim of finding someone so your just doing the same thing in a way that is comfortable for you as you may not be comfortable going out........due to anxiety. So go for it i think.

I worry too, but I have my picture on a dating site anyway. haha. I am tempted to delete it everyday. And one person from my past... actually 2 have found me.

Think of it this way.. If they find you on a dating site... Then they are on the dating site too.. So who are they to judge and ridicule you, when they are doing the exact same thing?

Hi :)

I guess I feel the same way.

Not so much fearful of ridicule (I don't think anyway :p) but more of being 'spotted' - don't wish to draw attention to myself.

It's true that you may get more success with a picture, but you shouldn't put a pic up if you don't feel comfortable.

Surely some people chat and make the effort to connect with those who have an interesting profile but no pic?

Just mention that you are rather shy and wary about putting your picture out there, but you will gladly exchange pictures with someone once you feel comfortable in doing so.

:)

All the best

I think the chances are low someone you know would find it and if they did, why were they on a dating site? The same reason as you are.

I feel the same. I can't even post my picture here. Haha too many pretty girls here, I can't compete. :p

POST IT! NOW!

I hate the way I look but I posted multiple pictures of myself on my page, sort of as a challenge to myself or some therapeutic measure. Surprisingly, I've left them up there. I want to like what I see in the mirror so desperately, so this is just an experiment. I've garnered nice responses, so it helps my confidence.

The only place I posted online is here, unlikely that someone I know will find me here.

First of all, don't give a damn about what other people thinks. Second, a lot of people meet on online dating sites. As of 2010, it may even be the most common form of meeting your significant other (I met my girlfriend on the internet).
