What Inspires You?

Throughout ones life we need & should find a inspiration to keep going.
I was inspired by a guy i really liked till we no longer contacted...
He introduced me to music therapy.
The more i listen the more confident i feel.
Especially Rap RnB Soul / Jazz & Lounge music.
Also creating music eventhough no expert.
He told me that if you get stressed & in a panic mode just leave a moment on what you are doing & listen to music for at least 5min.
It really does clear your mind.
I just shut off & it calms me.

What about you?

^ I'm glad you've got music to inspire you. Music is great that way. It inspires me, too, but I like a lot more abrasive stuff than lounge and jazz.

Good people inspire me. If they're great people and know what they want, I look up to them. Or just someone who I admire for their skills. I have a couple of people I look up to at the moment. :)

Music inspires me too, but indirectly. Anime and Disney characters inspire me. For instance, I think Merida from Brave is a good role model for girls (and women, even though she's only a teen). Merida seems like a spunky, rebellious individual not afraid to break tradition and go her own way. So when news broke out that Disney gave her a makeover, some people were outraged. Disney changed Merida to look like a sexy siren. Her eyes got bigger, her waist thinner, hips wider, dress was more revealing, etc. I don't think there's anything wrong with the original version, why did Disney have to change her to conform more to societal standards of beauty?

Anyways, after reading the article about Merida's makeover, I was inspired to listen to songs about strength, courage, and achievement. I also realized I made the same mistake as Disney. I subjected the protagonist in my fantasy story to the same treatment. I tried to paint her as strong and independent but at the same time I pick out revealing outfits for her to wear. And whenever I imagine her wearing these revealing outfits, I also imagine other men fawning over her. *Facepalm* I realized what I had done. So yesterday, I started revising the clothing choices in my story, eliminating the revealing outfits and replacing them with something more appropriate.

People who have been in bad positions in life but rolled up their sleeves and fought their way out of it always inspire me. It helps even more if it is somebody that I know personally.
