wrong time to buy a new monitor?

im just wondering is something on the horizon like 2000p hd or something? cos i dont wanna buy anew montior and then it goes obsolete

my choice is either to spend 100 on an acrylic gaming tower for my pc just as project to build over summer

or buy new monitor my current one is 22 inch 1680 x1050 i really want a 22 inch 1080p to make stuff look better

I wouldn't worry about HD becoming obsolete any time soon. My Laptop is a Dell but the screen isn't amazing, good but not great. Colours could be more vibrant. I don't know about LCD monitors but looks a good deal to me.
