Do you want someone to talk to who really understands you or someone who helps you to get over your anxiety by going out with you?

Me too. I know that it's great to be on this site, and it's great to know that there are lots of people who suffer from this, but i would love to have someone i could actually do things with.

This site helps with the talking and having people that understand..but like if i wanted to try going out to a party or something..it would be good to have a friend with the same thing that could come too..i just feel alone n yeh cuz no ones knows cept my parents...oh well :) Ive got stuff in place to help through the anxiety just to have a friend that understood fully/or with the same thing.

I know how you feel, I don't have any friends and I don't know anyone here who I can relate to with anxiety issues. It's frustrating isn't it? Are there any support groups where you live?

It almost feels like that would be all someone would need to get better. Just one good, understanding friend.

I totally agree; not having a good, understanding friend (or friends) truly makes people ill !!!

The answer is that you probably have if you think about it. Everyone to a certain extent has anxiety. Many successful people even use it to their advantage. It is how you use it or deal with it. People have a way of presenting themselves to hide this but the reality is that most people will understand i am sure. It is knowing who you can trust enough to talk about it with and i would suggest that most true friends would listen. i know most of the people i have ever met can see my shyness or anxiety and are very sensitive to me and it doesnt really become an issue. Sometimes i initially turn down invitations to social events but sometimes when i do go, i end up enjoying myself and being glad i went. and sometimes i even notice people who seem like me. hesitant to talk and socialise so i feel for them and understand what we are both going through.

I've been to a support group a few times. We usually talk and go out sometimes. Is it OK for you to write an e-mail?
