wisdom tooth removal

Hey guys have any of you guys have your wisdom tooth or teeth removed? I'm about to get mine remove. It's the upper left one. It was growing at an angle that made it hard for me to brush my teeth. Needless to say I have cavities there. I didn't feel no pain or felt anything weird on that tooth until I brush my tooth. Almost half of it broke off. Luckily there wasn't any pain. My uncle who's a dentist told me that people usually don't have fillings on their wisdom tooth, and it's best for me to get it removed. He told me that it would be painful, and I should wait for school to be over.
I'm scared and really worried now. I have always heard stories of how much pain people had to endure after getting their wisdom tooth remove. I did a bunch of reading online on other people experiences. I'm a little shaken by now. I have a low tolerance for pain. What would you guys recommend me to do to ease the anxiety and stress. Just thinking about it now makes me want to vommit.

To be honest, I had very little pain. I didn't even need to take any pain killers.

The only thing is, it may hurt a little or it may hurt a lot but the pain is only going to last a day or two. So don't stress over something that's going to pass pretty quickly.

I had mine pulled 2 weeks ago. I have a high pain tolerance so it didn't hurt at all, and I had all four of mine pulled. Honestly, the biggest worry was finding stuff to eat. Be prepared for things like soup, cream of wheat, congee, oatmeal, and the likeness.
If you have a low pain tolerance it will probably hurt, but not enough to be anxious about. It's survivable and they supply you with more than enough painkillers. I had 3 different kinds for 3 different levels of pain.
The advice I do have? Ask them for anxiety tablets. They gave me one for the night before, I was nervous too, and it is sort of like a beta blocker. It helps for the anxiety, and you can get one when you go in too. Ask for them!
Good luck, it won't be so bad and you're better off without it, unless you want a rotting tooth? You'll be fine :)

You don't feel anything when the tooth is remove right? I'm really freak out about that part. I know my uncle will give me local anesthesia.

I only ever had 3 to begin with but I had 1 removed and they offered me prescription painkillers and all that jazz but honestly the amount it hurt was pitiful, I took some advil for a few days and I was fine, I suspect a lot of older people claim it hurts a lot more then it does because when they got theirs removed dentistry wasn't as good as it is today and maybe the procedure was different? if that makes any sense. anyway yeah I got one removed and took advil and barely noticed it.

I had all 4 taken out at once. One of them was at a very awkward angle and they had to cut it in half to remove it. Some popping and cracking noises, a little jerking/pulling motion, some pressure but no pain. It's a little sore after the novocaine or whatever they use wears off but not really painful and only for a couple of days. They gave me some pain killers to take, but I didn't need them. I had to have stitches where the tooth they cut in half was but I doubt you'll need that.

You'll be on a liquid/mush diet for a couple days. Try to keep the area clean. Don't play at the area with your tongue.

Unless you're going to some guy at a stall in an alley in some 3rd world country, there's no need to worry. Just sit back, close your eyes and think about something else, it will be done before you know it.

I had a wisdom tooth out last year. The actual extraction of the tooth wasn't that bad because I was numbed up, however I would not describe it as a pleasant experience. You do feel the needle going in as they inject the anesthesia and then some discomfort as the fight goes on in your mouth to get the tooth out.

The bad part for me was the recovery process. I was swollen and sore for about a week. It hurt to eat anything and all I wanted to do was rest.

I need another tooth out, but after that experience I am in no hurry. As for you, I think you shouldn't worry about it because it's got to be done and how you respond may be different than how I or anyone else responds. I do think you should wait until you have a break just to make sure you have enough recovery time.

Good luck and God speed!!!

They numb out the pain when the tooth gets pulled but there was pain afterwards. I got prescribed Tylenol 3 and was knocked out overnight. The next day the pain went away and went back to work. Eating was difficult but that only lasted a few days.

I just took it out today. The waiting upon the procedure was much more stressful. The procedure only took about 10 minutes. The majority of the time was waiting for the local anesthesia to take into effect. The actual removal of the tooth took less than a minute. Thank you guys for the advice!

I had all 4 taken out at the same time, I had an amazing dental surgeon though, recovery was a breeze with not much swelling at all.

had all 4 taken out about 10 years ago. 2 of them were impacted so they put me to sleep and cut them out lol. Hurt like hell for a few days.

Yea I had mine taking out when i was 12 or so. Really didn't feel a thing. Just some weird crunching sensation as if i was chewing on rocks.

Had to bite on a towel for a few hours after, as my gums wouldn't stop bleeding.
