What is the appropriate way to do group projects

Group projects for me is awkward, and we have one coming up. I haven't made any acquaintances yet in my class. The professor has a "no talking" rule during class, but there's time to talk to people before class starts. The fact that I haven't spoken to anybody before class reveals my lack of skill in socializing. But the group project is soon, so what ways do you recommend me making groups or joining a group? I dread just sitting there doing nothing when the professor announces to "make groups". Any ideas?

Well I had a couple of group projects so far .. I don't think the professor will give you time during lecture to form groups unless he explicitly said so (well not in my experience at least ::p:), so I don't think you need to worry about that. How many people do you need for the group? And do you sit near the same people every lecture? I don't really talk to many people either... so I just try to stick with the people that sit close to me by just bringing it up casually.. I've done it through email before and it has worked :)

That is a good question OP, I always skip mine ever since my humanities presentation in high school and take a huge hit on my grade.. Nothing is worse than being SM and facing an entire classroom of students all staring at you.. Do you think there is something in place like rules of the school or law to allow me to do an alternate assignment instead? (I don't mean to thread jack!)

Choose the group with the hottest girls/guys and ask to join them.

Then at least you will have something to look at while freaking out.
