Twirling hair in a public setting

I have a few nervous habits, but I'd say the one I do most is twirling my hair when I'm in a public setting (or if I'm a little anxious in any setting). Seems like it drives people up the wall if you're giving a presentation or speech in front of a class (though I have no clue why). I've also been told that it makes me look insecure.

Does anyone else twirl their hair, or have some kind of nervous habit? If so, has anyone told you that it makes you look insecure whenever you do it?

I don't twirl my hair, but I'll constantly touch my hair, sweep it back and then sweep it forward. No one's ever called me out on it or called me insecure otherwise.

Although I tend to drive myself insane when I notice I'm doing it. And then I try to stop and it never happens.

I don't do it, my hair is too short and it's falling by itself, I don't want to help it XD

Anyway there was a guy in my class that was always twirling his hair until he started using one of those anti-stress balls, you could try it :)

I touch my hair a lot, brush it from my shoulders, move my fringe... My mum notices me do it and try's to stop me but its become almost subconscious so as soon as she tells me to stop I do it again!

I pick at my nails, bite them, or just fidget with my hands in general. Most of the time I'll play with a necklace if I'm wearing one it makes me feel less...stupid? I hate just standing there and doing nothing so messing with the necklace makes me feel better lol :D
