The Things that Keep You Sane

I know this is kinda old thread but I'll reply.

I like to read, study my old college books, build puzzles, word search, watch movies, hang around the house with my dog and cat, bake, look up random things on the internet, listen to music, sleep, watch tv shows (Gilmore Girls, Simpsons, Friends, and Scrubs), daydream about what my life would be like without this phobia, I started yoga and pilates to keep myself doing physical work.

I do a lot of things to keep myself busy... I practice singing, work on a website for a friend, watch tv, play video games, clean the apartment, write, read, go through self-help books and videos, cooking and baking, etc... just about anything that I can get involved in.

The Internets a good distraction, i check all the newspapers daily to keep up with the outside world. The company of my family is most effective, they are a comfortable distraction for me. Ive also started to get into the anime market, playing the games watching the shows. But the one thing that keeps me occupied as of late is puzzles, expecially Sodoku. The Nintendo Wii is also good to have in the house it gives you something physical to do.

I'm also doing a home study course that keeps me occupied for the most amount of time.

I used to be an avid writer, now my attention span only lets me write short stories at best, but it's a great escape from an anxiety attack. Either typing or handwriting with a fountain pen in a book. Both can be very relaxing.

Using my imagination is a big part of that, and with my agoraphobia, my imagination sometimes feels like all I have.

same here i find im constantly carrying a notebook around to jot down little stories, but my mind never lets me finish them, i have like over 20 prologues and first chapters of different stories on my hardrive, but none have gone further than those, because my attention slowly sifts away! it sucks doesn't it! lols!

It's so frustrating to me. I rely on friends that I can only contact online or by phone now (simply because of geography) to help me finish stories. Now I know why some books have two or more authors.

- Music (Massive Attack, Enigma, Disturbed, Megadeth, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren... and from the 80's: Dire Straits, Tears for Fears,... )
- driving (I like driving my car far away, I just don't want him to fail at a traffic light or a STOP. 8O )
- movies (at the PC, of course) (WWII, but I also like others genres.)
- TV (History Channel, news and TV series)

but specially:
- my PC
- Internet
- PC games (like COD, HL2, Max Payne, Oblivion,...)

We do a lot of the same stuff, with some differences.

I watch a lot of TV shows, and some movies. (all my shows are on break now, though)
My PC is the thing that keeps me from going insane, but also, to some extent, it's keeping me from going out more :\
Right now my main PC is broken, so I'm using an old one, which is really slow!
I'm waiting for a new one to arrive in the mail, but the wait is killing me.
Without a proper PC, I won't stay sane for long.

Music, reading, porn, politics on tv. I honestly don't know what I would do if lived in the 15th century or something.
