I wrote this today after a very good friend of mine helped me last night. I was feeling very down, but they helped more than they will ever know: Anyone who's ever had a true friend bring them back from the depths of despair will understand:

I was a broken reflection of myself. Turning inwards
You came and picked up the pieces, every last one.
Fixing them back together with your kind words.
You heart spoke, and comforted mine, you turned on
The light of hope. Brought a smile back to my face.
Lifted the weight of emptiness, hollowness and pain.
I thank you for your help and support, from the base
Of my heart, my soul, my life force. Thank you again.
You can never know how much it meant, just to have your thoughts
With me, dragging me back from the mire so dark and deep in despair.
I was falling fast and scared, but you held out your arms and me you caught
I can only hope that for you too, I will always be there.
Ready to catch you when you fall.
Ready to hold you when you’re down.
To be your true friend.
Right through to the end.

A shattered image of myself lay on the ground.
You fixed me, turned my head around.
I’d smashed the mirror of my reflection.

Because you talked with me for a while.
But you understand
You held out your hand.
Held out your friendship
Which has taken a strong grip
Upon my soul and my heart
