you are smart and beautiful. I would hire you in an instant.

Having said taht, it would depend on the local economy. Are there many jobs in your city?

Exactly what Kyle said =]

Don't give up is all i can say. It can take a while to find somewhere, even for normal people. Look at me. I began putting in applications 2 years ago. I applied at many places - McDonald's, Tim Hortons, KFC, H&M and other places in my local mall, Goodness Me, XS Cargo, etc. And i finally found a place actually liked me - and i don't even know why. I stumbled through the entire interview.

I don't know if i can manage to keep the job though. I am forgetting to do certain things i am supposed to at the cash (For example, getting people to initial cash back receipts), i am somewhat slow at times (well sometimes i'm fast, it depends on what the item is. I hate coats, i can never fold them and get them into a proper bag.), etc...i don't even know my way around the store and i've been shopping there since i was like 7 (which was clearly evident tonight, they wanted me to put away returns and i couldn't finish all of them in the half hour they gave us)...i guess it's because being employed is new to me, and i don't really shop there anymore. The only time i would ever go to Zellers ever since i was like 14 was for school supplies.

I hope i'm doing okay though. Other than that i don't see any real problems. I'm also nervous about the cash register, if it's equal in the end or not...
Sorry if i'm rambling, i just had to get this out.

Yeah I've been having problems concerning getting employment too. I'm 20 and has never had a job. I haven't even had an interview because I get so nervous I get physically sick and I chicken out. It's also hard having a job where I'll have to rely on public transportation considering how unreliable it is (well at least in my area) so it has not been easy. I hope your job hunting is more successful than mine!

well there are many fast food places around here and plenty of stores. but a lot of times when i call those places they say there not hiring. So it could be that theres just A LOT of people out there who are also applying for the same job. But im always the unlucky one who doesnt get picked.

since ive never had a job, im hoping that having a job is a lot easier then finding a job. cause trying to find a job freakin sucks
:x

Hi. Finding a job is really hard especially if you live in a place where there's very little jobs going like i do. I'm fortunate that i have been in the same company for 5 years. You are right, it is easier to keep a job than to find one, as soon as you get over the hurdle you can show them how good you are as an employee. You haven't had much practice in interviews, maybe try and look up on interview skills and perhaps you can practice a mock interview with someone?

Even if you're about to vomit SMILE!

Congratulations to any of us that have actually been on a job interview - to have Social Phobia and go on an interview takes alot of courage! I've been on interviews with a shaking head, hands and stomache (not to mention the blushing red face and the violent vomiting that follows! Good news is they often still like you!

I've worked in HR for about 10 years now. What I've realised is that most jobs adverstised are already taken - half the time when you're sitting in that interview the job has already been taken! Never "beat yourself" up for not getting a job". They probably love you - but a friend, sister brother, aunt, cousin is probably also wanting the job.

So the best way to find a job is tell as many, I mean as many people as possible that you want a job... then get them to tell just as many people that you want a job.

You (or if you haven't got the courage, your family/friends) can ask the people at the places they frequent - most people have a regular place they eat, shop, get their haircut, accountant, butcher, bakery, local shopping centre etc. Even if you can't ask get your family and friends to.

Then do up a fantastic resume - and drop it in (or get someone else to as their "passing by").

When you go for an interview - don't just look good - look great! Spend some time getting ready - good clothes and hair.

And even though it's hard - fake it and SMILE big. Look them in the eye. Sure you'll be dead scared nervous but we notice our nerviousness more than them. Afterall - they EXPECT us to be nervous. They won't notice - what they will notice is your SMILE.

Remember we notice our nervousness alot more than they do. It doesn't matter if you are nervous - a person interviewing someone will expect it.

So even if your about to vomit - SMILE!

Right now, at least where I live, Tim Hortons doesn't even do interviews. If they like the look of you, you get hired.
