OK, over the past few days I have seen a lot of posts regarding social networking sites.
One post was about an article written from dailymail.co.uk. Others have posted their own feelings regarding these sites. Everyone has their own opinions and I respect them. I am not here to 'dis' anyone's opinions and feelings. I love you all :
:
My take on it is this: regarding dailymail article that was posted online. I feel it is WAY too soon to run statistical information about these sites. These sites such as facebook, YouTube, etc, are too young to be doing data and pie charts on. I think maybe conducting studies on email, uses, productivity in work, personal life, etc., would be fine as it has been around a lot longer.
The article, in my opinion, is just plain silly and makes the younger generation feel even more insecure about themselves. It must be hell being a kid these days!
Don't get me wrong, I am all for forwarding technology and embrace it and I try to learn and grow from it. It's here to stay so I better just settle in for the ride.
As far as these sites being (sometimes) detrimental to those of us who have GAD, SA, depression, (the list is pretty endless) Yes, in some cases it is when one worries what they say on their wall is going to be liked or if they are going to sound like a fool. Other cases, it can be helpful when connecting with family members, and some people it can help with communication skills - to an extent. Hey, I'm trying to be optimistic here
By the way, I AM NO STRANGER TO THIS, I had facebook and deleted the account several times because I could not handle all the info out there...right now in my life, I am not 'stable' enough to handle all the info being thrown at me via facebook, it actually makes me nervous, that's just me...so I chose to stay off. No, that does not make me have psychopathic tendencies, nor am I intentionally going against the norm to be a jerk. I just chose not to at this point. In the future, perhaps yes.
*I use that term 'stable' loosely. I am at a place in my life where I need to focus on ME to get back on track without interruption. That's just me right now. Until I can use them without being a 'debbie downer', I stay off.
my rant is now over.
I'll be here all night
