should I tell the doctor I have ADD instead of Social Anxiety

I know for a fact that I have REALLY bad social anxiety. I have some form of ADD I believe but it is not that bad, and I can live with it. I went through 4 years with not taking any medicine (but alcohol). It is getting REALLY bad and I need to take something.

I have been researching and I feel that ritalin or other ADD medicines will seem to do the trick. I just want to be able to not by shy and talk to people, that is all.

*I refuse to take SA medicine because of the weight gain, which will make me depressed (something I am not yet).

Should I just up my story for the ADD and not mention my SA so I get the ADD medicine?

I think you should mention that you have both but ask specifically about the medication. Your doctor needs to know whatever issues you are having or else they will not be able to fully help you.

So, you want an 'easy' solution but you don't want any weight gain?

I'd really only suggest you take medication suited to your problem and make sure not to mix it with alcohol (or smoking if you can help it) because alcohol can really mess up how effective your meds are.

Also- diet and exercise are good for every person generally and a change in lifestyle can often trigger a bigger emotional change.

I exercise 5-6 times a week. Lift weights for an hour, then, 40 mins of cardio. I have a pretty healthy diet- this does not work for SA at all.

I know I have a little for of ADD as I cannot concentrate at ALL on anything school related for more tha 5 mins.

My SA is what is really bothering me. But the weight gain and serious side effects of the meds trumps all other forms of meds

if i do drink, at least add meds have a 5-8 hour halflife, so i can just drink on days when i dont take the meds.
