should i lie to my boss

My friend invited me to her family party so it's kinda important. She asked a month in advance too. I'm a terrible communicator and told my boss the wrong date by accident and was scheduled to work on that day all day. Should i ask to work different hours that day (2 days away) or call in "sick" that day? Or both? Would i get fired? I feel like someone is going to get mad at me no matter what :( please help....

oops. Yeah this happens. Just tell your boss you mixed up some dates and want to change things around.

If its shift work this might not be possible. Yeah see if you can get an extra day off. Or trade shifts with someone?

Explain to your friend what happened. Mixing things up is actually common we do it all the time. See what your friend suggests?

If it is important and there is no other way then don't tell your boss a thing and just call in sick. Lots do this. Lots of people expect people to do be this way. Its your sick day.

If you get fired for requesting a shift change, that's pretty damning on your boss. Possibly illegal, too.

All you can do is ask. If he says no, it's no. If there's a chance, take it.

Good luck. :)

He wasn't there today so i'm going to leave a note with my number and call again tomorrow  if no then i'm calling out sick because usually a coworker will pick up and say "oh okay, bye" it might seem obvious but i can worry about explaining later if it's necessary :p
