Should I go on vacation? Airplane?

I have the opportunity to go to South America next Monday to visit my grandparents. However, I'm truly scared to go by myself and the whole airport situation terrifies me. This would be my first time traveling alone, all flights I've gone with my mom. I suffer from panic disorder/social anxiety and I'm scared to go to the airport because there's a lot of people there. I'm on medication, I take Lexapro 20mg and Clonazepam 0.125mg. Yet, I know for a fact that I'm going to be very nervous at the airport and so, that's what makes me keep from going. Do you think that I should go despite my anxiety? I honestly don't know what to do.

Yes, go.

Airports are full of people who have never flown anywhere before and staff is used to coping with it. And they will not allow you to get on the wrong airplane, and once your luggage is on the airplane they will not allow the airplane to leave without you. Not much can go wrong except for the worries in your mind, and I am sure you will be able to overcome it.

You have the opportunity and some experience. You can navigate this on your own! Besides, grandparents aren't around forever.

If you're anything like me, the worrying is most often the worst of it. I made it once from Minnesota to Sicily by myself on trains and plane. You can do it, too!

Hoping for the best - go for it!

You should go. I think the trip will give you new experiences. And nothing could go wrong. You could ask someone you know to go with you to the airport. He/she will make sure you get into the right plane

Go even you are nervous
Go even though you think crazy thoughts
Go because this is new experience.

The worst thing that will happen is that you will just go back home.
Im going abroad next week and that will be the first time for me too going abroad and I will be alone and also Im going there to live for at least a year,,
Im really stressful and I overthink this a lot, but dont let your weakness take the overhand.

I worked on air port as a guide around there and also as an ramp agent.
There are millions of signs that tell the gate and where your flight should be. Go to the airport in good time sooner the better, then you have enough time to see around and find your way and also there wont be as many ppl there.
You can also check on the airport webpage for map and see how the airport is constructed and some have even virtual tour.

As hoppy said. When you have checked in the plane wont leave the ground. The luggage isn't allowed to leave without his owner and there will be ppl there to help you to get to your plane.

I hope you will go on a trip :) take care and happy travels
