Shake hands, hug, kiss, or hug and kiss?

So following on from this thread, and especially the penultimate paragraph.

Prior to me leaving, two ladies left who gave me a hug as I was sat down. One of them asked if I wanted one and I kinda didn't say much and smiled which she took as a positive sign.

My position is not to do that as some women might feel uncomfortable, might not want to etc. So I just think saying a goodbye and a wave is enough.

Also I didn't know them that well, only done work there for six weeks. Maybe if I'd known them for longer, might have felt comfortable to do a hug.

Thoughts?

Especially males in a similiar situation, advice would be appreciated.

I guess you could shake hands (nothing wrong with that) and if they lean in then you can give them a peck on the cheek. There's nothing wrong with assuming they are okay with a peck, the problem is that some people just aren't comfortable with it.

This is tricky. It depends on where you are and the culture around you. In some places like France, it is normal to hug and kiss. But in the US and elsewhere, kissing someone who's not your gf might be seen as making a move on someone and labeled as sexual harassment.
