And a question. Why do we allow 'friends' to treat us in ways that we would not accept from a boy/girlfriend?

Well I would assume it's because you go a step further putting your trust with your boy/girl friend. Friends are commonly known to mistreat people, so we put them in less positions where we could get hurt from them. As for best friends I feel like it's the same when they hurt me as my boyfriend would because I hold a trust with both of them that's practically the same.
