please help me choose between jobs!

starting a new job...i dread it sooo much!!!...it doesn't matter how many new jobs ive started over the years it never gets any easier. it seems to take me about 6months before im comfortable in a new work environment::(:...how long for you guys?

whats worse is that i got 2 job offeres at the same time and i got to choose between the two::(: ..its making me physcially sick inside because im finding it difficult to choose. job are like taxi's in that they don't come at all or all come at once.

ok so job (a) is boring repetitve work, (manufacturing) so working on a production line...but is reasonablly good paid.
job(b) is a bit more interesting (automotive apprenticeship) but most likely very low paid.

ok so some pros and cons for each, and i'll let you help me decide.
job (a) is working amongst many employees which helps when you just want to blend in, whereas job b is only me and 2 guys...so if you dont get along your screwed.

TBC...

ohhh and another thing...just my luck..ive been struck down witha severe flu and now im bed ridden and so i had to cancel my starting date for job (b)...the guy on the phone sounded rather annoyed but i cant help that..ive delayed it untill friday. and now because of the way i was lying in bed my siatic nerve is playing up and now i totally can't walk at all!! i think the universe is trying to tell me that both jobs arn'y for me??

job (b) atleast has resonable future propects (i.e an apprenticeship) wheras job (a) has limited future propects.

The apprenticeship will lead to a career as a mechanic - is this what you want to do? It requires commitment and effort over a number of years and shouldn't be thought of as just a job.

The boring job could be balanced out if you lead an interesting life in your personal time, and just want to earn the money and forget about work at the end of the day
:)

yeh thats a good point...its a spray painting apprenticeship which i would probably enjoy...but then the boring job is working under a recruitment agency and when i get sick of it (note i said when not if) they might just find me other work if im a good enough worker i spose

I would choose job (a). You say it pays pretty good and it also sounds less stressful because you wont have to work with 2 employees who u might not get along with.

Job a

Reasons:

you will get paid more than job b

there are more employees, so you can socialize to improve your social skills

Think that job a is not boring, think you love your work and you will feel ok

hmmm opinions seems split so far... like what vamps says tho...my social anxiety could come into play with job (b)...i tend to get paranoid people dont like me, and with just 2 other workers this would be a big risk

...actually yeh job (a) appears to be winning, and im leaning towards that way too. have you noticed apprenticeship wages these days...they are very very low, and youre on that for 3-4years

So job (a) it is then. :) good pay, gives u the occasion to socialize if u want to, less stress. And it doesnt sound like job(b) is smth ud love to do anyways.

Seriously Go for the apprenticeship. It will probably be tough for the first few years though after that you will always find work.I made the mistake of going into working factory jobs cause i thought an apprenticeship was to much effort and i regret it everyday i have to go to work::(:

I know how you feel and yes it is a bit daunting, though look at it this way i have worked in warehouses my whole life and have worked my way up to a management position.Though i still have trouble affording the rates that tradies charge. You just need to get through a bit of short term pain for long term gain.Just my 2 cents

do the apprenticeship job, yes it may be low pay but if its something you're interested in then it will be much more enjoyable and could lead to greater things in the future...the other job sounds like a bit of a nightmare.

I'd choose job A just because B requires more socialization with new people everyday :p Also you will get more money so you can do more things you wanna do outside work like.. golf? Whatever you want. If end up dreading it then switch. Actually no B err... can you give more of a description?
