Overcoming Social Anxiety by Dr. Thomas A. Richards

Has anyone tried these audio sessions?

I have been listening to them for about 2 weeks and I already notice a transition in my thinking to become more rational and at ease in my mind. I find the points he makes are very empowering and the talking is also very calming. You slowly reprogram your mind to stop anxious feelings, without pretending it's some easy route. He reminds you it's not easy, but by small steps you learn to become more at ease with yourself.

I find the Slowtalk a good method, but not always appliable in real life. I mean, when you're in a social situation, wouldn't you come off as a total bore if you talk like that? I guess it's about finding your own balance.
Also the trying to go against the ANT'S (Automatic Negative Thoughts) is sometimes difficult for me, because often times I don't really have anxious thoughts, but anxious feelings (like a stinging gut-feeling). But I definately feel like I am finally trying to realistically battle the social anxiety that has crippled my life for a long time.

I did it! Wow, that was over a year ago when i finished. It definitely helped me a lot! I was at a low point in my life, and it really helped me out.

I feel like doing that series was the start of the rest of my life. Good luck, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask me!

Dr. Jacobsen in the 1930s found that our thoughts are controlled by our muscles (tense or relaxed). I think it's more about relaxing our body than our mind.

I've tried the ANT think without success because I'm too tense.
