Have you heard of NoFap?

"NoFap hosts challenges in which participants abstain from pornography and/or masturbation for a period of time." That is 90 days.

Apparently excessive masturbation and viewing pornography change the chemistry of your brain which has multiple manifestations, one of which being -drum roll- social anxiety!

There is a study on the topic. It's pretty extensive, but general idea is that our brain is not designed for internet porn. Every time you watch it, your body releases a great amount of dopamine - the pleasure hormone, which ultimately leads to numbing of the dopamine receptors. Meaning, your everyday life will seem boring and unsatisfactory, not to mention you will be needing more and more porn to do it for you. I'm getting of the topic but one of the symptoms is also SA, check the actual study for more info.
There's an another study on masturbation and testosterone levels.

I know what you may think, as I thought it myself when I first heard it - my social anxiety is not caused by porn. But if you're an awkward SA guy like myself, chances are you are doing it, and believe you may think you don't have a problem until you try to stop. I'm not saying I was an addict  but I had the habbit of watching it every couple of days and it wasn't easy to break it.

I'm suggesting you try it, there are positive effects to it - more energy and confidence, social anxiety improvement, better focus...
People (there's a community) who have done it say it's more than just abstaining from masturbation. If not anything else, do it as a form of will power training!

I knew about the changing of brain chemistry when watching porn, and that abstaining from that is a good way to revert it back. I didn't know it was a widespread thing, though.

A friend of mine tried this because he felt he needed to. He said he lasted 60-70 days but couldn't hang on after that. He said it was very helpful but it was difficult towards the end, since absolutely anything was getting him aroused...which I suppose is the point.

I don't know if I could do this.

I'm not sure if that is completely accurate. I've always had zero libido and suffered from anxiety anyway. The only thing that would make it go away was my medicine.
