i was seeing if anyone has had any luck with taking either l-tyrosine or l-trytophan for social anxiety and depression? i want to try it since i have heard its a natural anti-depressant.

I have not tried those, but as slowmotiondaydream just mentioned, I also use and highly recommend exercise as a very effective anti-depressant.:)

Eating barley and garlic can help. Exercise yes is important, as is a good daily dose of sun for vitamin D. Goats milk is regarded as very good too, as well as eating oily fish. Plus a good sodium (salt) intake, but don't overdo salt as it can increase blood pressure.

One think to note though is that natural things take longer work so the results will only be seen if you are patient.

I have taken L-Tyrosine in the past, because it is supposed to help with ADHD

Didn't know about the anti-depressant part - but that makes sense

It did seem to help me feel more mentally clear and present

Maybe I'll try it again

5-htp and L-dopa from mucuna pruriens is better choice. SJW, valerian and mellisa are very helpful too.
