Im in the same position what not. It's like I mispronounce some words and stutter. I didn't do this when I was younger now I do. Sometimes I think I sound dumb and the people I talk to I think might notice it too.

Yeah I hate my voice too. A lot. I mispronounce words same problem or I talk too soft. And I have a deep voice but it doesn't project in public. In a class room I can - loud. But on phones; personably, socially it does not carry at all. And I think it's on some frequency that people can't hear because many times people just keep talking when I start or run over me. Sure I can mumble it out sometimes but usually I don't anymore. Still. I must not say things with enough conviction or importance to be heard. Then again I have so much disdain for my voice anyways lol.

um yea i hate my voice. i hate how i sound, the tone of my voice, and just everything about it. ecspecially since people have made smartass comments about it. theyve made fun of how i talk :( not nice. so now im really really really self concious about it.

this is how my social phobia started. At the age of 14 I moved to USA and had to learn English from scratch (studied French as a second language back in Russia). So after a couple of years I noticed that I'm paying way too much attention to the way I pronounce words and think that other people will make fun of me if I mispronounce some words...So it just got worse from there, the most difficult part about my sp is my voice and the way I talk, I keep thinking I sound weird or if I open my mouth and start talking I will mess up somehow. This may actually be true because I really lack any communication skills, I don't get much practice talking to people...One way to practice that I found sort of helpful is to use windows sound recorder and record yourself reading some article out loud, then play it and listen to your own voice..that way you can improve your voice by tweaking it to the right tune ;)
