Graduated from HS at 17. Total working experience 3 year. Now, i'm 27 year old. 17+3 = 20-27 = -7 year. That is the total years i stay jobless and hiding from society. I don't have 1 single friend. None. Basically, I'm not much better than you. As long you don't give up... there is hope.
Inspiration, I don't think you looked in the air all that time?
Whatever you did, you can put it in your CV/resume...
Did you hang on forums? (=international networking, communication with people worldwide, internet skills)
Did you attempt to earn money online or start your own biz? You probably did a lot of things that are transferrable skills too.. (eg research, market analysis, analysis of problems and opportunities, etc)
You can still do volunteering or do freelancing or even start own biz/non-profit. Nobody is going to ask you about your previous job experience if you come up with interesting ideas for projects etc.
That goes for Smallestloser too.. You don't have to work 'for profit' to be a meaningful member of society... Millions worldwide currently don't do profitable work 'for money', are you saying they are worth less too??
Unemployment still high, crisis not over yet
15 Sep 2010 - The International Monetary Fund (IMF), together with the International Labour Organization (ILO), held an international conference on global unemployment on Monday. According to the ILO data, a total of 30 million people had become unemployed since 2007, with 3/4 of them from the developed world. If not for the stimulus measures launched by various countries, another 23 million people would have lost their jobs. At present there are 210 million unemployed people worldwide, and it's estimated a further 443 million job seekers would flood into the labor market in the following decade. The IMF pointed out there were more and more long-term unemployed people, which would weaken social cohesion and raise risks of unrest, or even undermine and erode democracy.

Perhaps these particular workers need recognition for their contribution to society!
(for non-academic jobs, it's easier to get a job without Uni where I live these days..)
AND:
There is no doubt in my mind that governments should move away from the "work ethic" obsession and train people for leisure! Much crime and animal abuse is the product of idle hands so how much better to provide useful activity by way of sport, hobbies and useful pastimes such as volunteering for the many worthy charities that exist that for example the person existing on state benefits who has the time available cannot afford to participate in! Sadly Governments despite their claim to the contrary are not noted for being able to think outside the box! Education for leisure should be a worldwide mantra however all the while governments continue to waste our tax dollars on redundant security services war vivisection and other unnecessary evils then nothing will be achieved except the preservation of the rich poor divide spawning more of the same resentment and dysfunctional society!
The whole perception of people in the Western world needs to change...
