Movies relating to social anxiety

Does anyone know of any really good movies relating to social anxiety, or any other anxiety disorder?

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Amelie (great movies) are my favorites

Does anyone else have any other recommendations?

I have heard so much about that movie (good and bad) but I haven't watched it yet. I can't picture Adam Sandler playing a serious character but i'll give it a try. I'll probably rent it this weekend

Not literally social anxiety but...

OCD = "As Good as It Gets" with Jack Nicholson

"One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest" with Jack Nicholson which is an interesting portrayal of how the health service in Western Society used to treat the mentally ill.

"Girl, Interrupted" with Wynona Ryder.

Haven't watched it myself but hope to soon - "Annie Hall" by Woody Allen.

That's about all off the top of my head. Is it just me or is social anxiety/depression much neglected by the film industry? I mean practically the whole of western society suffer from mental illness at one time or another.

pump up the volume. its an older movie from early 90's i think, its not really anxiety related but its about stuff we can relate too alot. trust you WILL like it for sure. i recommended it in another thread b4.

"Prozac Nation" (both a book & film) is about Atypical Depression rather than SA, but the effect it has on Elizabeth Wurtzel's life is quite interesting, especially for those SA sufferers who also have some form of depression.

AHHHH How could I forget? This movie is great, almost as good as the book? Have you read it? I wish I had telekinetic powers.

you should watch "punch drunk love". It stars Adam Sandler. Someone on here recommended it to me and it was really good. Sandler plays this insecure social wreck who learns to stick up for himself.

Punch Drunk Love is a great movie and in my opinion Adam Sandler's most interesting role. A friend of mine actually told me I'm just like Barry Egan (Sandler's character) in real life. That's not exactly a compliment, but there is a degree of truth to it.

The parts of the movie I most identify with are when he has trouble going through the door to enter a party, how he gets nervous and misspeaks at the party, all the pent up rage he has inside of him that comes out in bursts of anger, when he smashes up the bathroom, and how he says "I don't know," all the time.

Another one I thought of was Joe vs. the Volcano. Tom Hanks plays Joe Banks, an ex-firefighter who took a lousy office job because he was too scared to live his life.

How about ''Taxi driver''? I'm not sure about social phobia but he was portrayed as a lonely person.

Lars and the Real Girl

Strange thing about this movie is, it deals with a man who definitely has some problems with social anxiety, but the plot itself has very little to do with it. I just felt mildly uncomfortable on the main character's behalf throughout at least the first half-hour of the film. That said, it is probably one of the most realistic on-screen portrayals of SA I've ever seen.

One of my favorite movies, House of Sand and Fog. Not about or related to SA, more of depression but its still a great movie. It has a horrible ending though and probably not one to watch in a down mood cause its quite a downer of a movie but I love it. I could relate to the female lead quite a bit though.
