Jobs - talking in front of others

Hi

Does anyone have jobs or careers where you have to talk in front of others, present work etc. Im a student an we have to do group work etc, presentations. All my life I have got myself out of the situation but now I got no choice and I have a presentation to do in 3 weeks. I cant sleep or anything and on the day it will be unbearable I dont know what to do. I want to be able to talk confidently in front of others without the worry.

Having studied social sciences, there were many times when I had to speak in front of everyone or be part of a debate. It's never easy for anyone, whether you have SA or not. The best thing you can do to minimize your stress is know your subject very well, be passionate about it and practice a lot at home. It will give you confidence. On the day you have to present, get lots of sleep the night before and breathe calmly. You'll be ready to go to war.

Study your subject matter thoroughly and if possible 'fall in love' with it... If you love it enough, the audience really won't matter since you'll want to share what you know.

When you are passionate about the subject matter it is easier to get a flow going. I had numerous presentations I had to share with an audience and I always found that true. Discuss something you love and it is somewhat easier. Although I haven't been in school in years and my SA has only increased ten fold since then. ::

It's gonna be ok, I also have problems with it, but I always did them. Just do your best, don't be too stressy about it. Easy said I know, but I don't know what other advise I could give you.

Thats the worrying thing. I absolutley love the subject and am really passionate about it, but even when its not a presentation. Just someone simply turning the attention to me and ask me a question. I feel like I want the ground to swallow me cos im so nervous even though i know the answer and I love the subject.
