(I feel better than I did yester day! :D)

Sorry if I sound stupid...

But...Well...

I was browsing facebook yesterday...and I noticed some beautiful girls (some were even single), and I kind of had a slight amount of interest in them...And...half of them were 16-17 (and I'm 20)....

Is it wrong to date a girl 4 years younger than yourself, and does online dating make you a bad person too?

No, as long as they're at an age where they're allowed to date and it's not a significant age gap. Four years is nothing. When you're 84, they'll be 80. And girls have a tendency to mature faster than boys.

Online dating doesn't make you a bad person. Doing bad things makes you a bad person, like lying, cheating, bullying, etc.

I would suggest you find out what the legal age of consent is in your country/state before going any further

The previous girl I dated (the one I wrote about in my infamous thread) was four years younger than me. The night I spent with her (before I actually knew how she really was as a person) was wonderful.

Age gaps tend to be a lot bigger when young, but the older you get (20s and onwards), the less age gaps tend to matter.

My girlfriend is younger than me, im 19 shes 16, at one point it was 18 and 15 and there was a huge deal made about it, but noone cared after a couple of months, and we were able to stay within the law, so its no problem.

(For all american users, the legal age to have sex here is 16, so when its a 15 year old, people act like your a monster, and then as soon as theyre 16 people act like its fine)

I agree with everyone else...

but, seriously, if they're minors (16-17) and you're an adult (20) - you can get into some legal issues regardless of how small the age gap is

4 years is nothing, and it is normal for men to date younger women. It is not even unusual for older men to date women like 20 years younger.

I don't really want to have sex (not yet), because it seems like too much work, or that's what people told me...

I saw Bo Derek on Oprah yesterday, and she was talking about how she was 16 when she met her future husband, who was 46 or something. They actually moved to Europe to get around statutory rape laws in California, and when she turned 18 they moved back and got married. I'm not saying this is a good or bad thing, but it does happen. It's really weird how here in the US the age of consent varies from state to state. Some places it's like 14 years old or less maybe, and other places it's 18. I don't really see a problem with dating someone the ages you've talked about. As long as you aren't taking advantage of someone. And it seems like a lot of times, many of the members here could be the older one but have LESS experience than a younger partner.

This is untrue. The legal age of consent varies from state to state in the United States. For many states, the legal age of sexual consent is 16. For some it is not. Some states consider males "legal" before females.

This site, although not an official site on "the age of consent" gives a quick summary of the laws.

Age of Consent by State | LegalMatch Law Library

"What is Age of Consent?
Every state has laws which dictate at what age a person can legally consent to sex, called “age of consent” laws. If a person has sex with someone who is below the age of consent, they are guilty of “statutory rape.” Essentially, they have had sex with someone who, according to the law, could not possibly consent to the act. Because rape is sex without consent, they are guilty of a form of rape.

Age of Consent Differences Between Males and Females
In many states, the age of consent for males and females is different. In some states, there is an exception to the age of consent law if the two partners are close to the same age (usually a 2 or 3 year difference), and in most of those states, punishments are harsher if one of the partners is significantly older than the other. Note, though, that if both partners are above the age of consent, any age difference between them is irrelevant.

Also, some states distinguish between sex between a male and a female, and sex between 2 males or 2 females. In many states, until very recently, any type of homosexual sex was illegal, regardless of age. In others, the age of consent for such acts is higher, but it is not altogether illegal.

Age of Consent for Homosexual Conduct
Recently, the United States Supreme Court found that laws which prohibit consensual, private sexual conduct (including homosexual conduct) between adults are unconstitutional, and cannot be enforced by any state. However, some states still have those laws on the books. Therefore, it is unclear exactly what the age of consent for such acts is in those states.

It is probable that a state court, assuming that it did not try to enforce an unconstitutional law, would simply default to the state’s age of consent for heterosexual intercourse, but this is not a sure thing."

Thanks for the information, but like I said before, I'm not really interested in having sex right now.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to where HE lives, which looks to be the UK. I thought the same thing you did when I first read it. :D

Sorry, the way i wrote it seemed like i was from america. What i was saying is im from the uk, and was informing american users that the age of consent in the uk is 16. Sorry, i read it back to myself and realised id confused people.

Pretty much if you are in the uk and you have this age gap, as long as you dont mind people making comments and you are mature enough to wait to have sex, you are fine. If you cant wait, then, dont go in the relationship.
