I for the life of me I cant fall asleep on my own most nights. I just lay there awake for hours on end. I've tried nearly every sleep aid i can think of in my country: Trazodone, Remeron, Zopiclone, Starnoc, Seroquel, Melatonin, Temazepam, Zyprexa, Amitriptyline, Nortriptyline, and the list goes on and on.

Anyone have any advice?

I think you can still buy it here: Discount Vitamins & Herbal Supplements from Puritan's Pride If not, I have seen it at a lot of different health food and supplement stores. I don't know about in your country tho =/

Works like a charm on me... and on my dog. One time the b1tches (who we kept outside in the kennels) were in heat and our stud (who we were keeping locked up inside with us) was totally freaking out about it. Like to the point that he was harming himself from chewing and clawing at the door to get to them. Gave him a quarter of one of those and he was totally calm and mellow for the rest of the day. I imagine if we had given him half of one it would have been "Boom! Lights out"... I know it is for me when I take a whole one at night.

Anyway, that's my only suggestion seeing as you have already tried all the other things I would have suggested to you :/ other than hypnosis...

I'm gonna guess they contain either A) Melatonin, or B) Valerian or C) both

If you drink any caffeine then ease up on that a little bit. Apparently the stuff stays in your body for hours so thats bad. It helped me.

My name "Noca" means no caffeine. I rarely drink/consume caffeine cause it makes me anxious. All my pop I drink is caffeine free. I only consume a little bit of caffeine in a hot chocolate drink when I wake up in the mornings in the winter time. I wish I could get decaffeinated hot chocolate too lol.

I have the same problem. I either get too much sleep or not enough. I'm on seroquel and it helps a bit, but if you want some non rx solutions you can read a book or listen to soft music before you go to bed. Sounds kinda corny but you should "set the mood" for sleep. It doesn't always work for me but it's better than nothing.

Though by looking at your list these med sugestions are probably not going to work either but doxepin might be the strongest antihistamine on the market but I'm not quite sure but I know it is stronger than amitriptyline, klonopin at decent to high doses or other longer half life ones too but good luck on finding a doctor to do it, two ambien cr 12.5s but yet again good luck finding a doctor, and the old typical antipsychotics sedate in a differnent mechanism than the new ones haldol could provide some relief but the old antipsychotics have lots of risk.

In my case, is not that I have a problem sleeping. Once I decide that I want to sleep, I am out in a couple minutes. The problem is wanting to sleep, I just dont want to do it. Hate to sleep, so the next day comes so fast. I dont look foward to tomorrow.

My doctors give me any drug I want thats avialable in Canada. Ambien isnt one of them. I'll try Doxepin though.

I don't have a degree on the subject but have a LOT of first hand experience with this. Try visualizing images vividly if you can. I often have nighmarish images and just plain old scary nightmares, but even with these, visualizing in general helps me.

If all else fails, I sometimes completely don't move my body. Then my mind will still be awake but the body will be sort of sleeping.

My two cents from bitter experience.

You need to reach REM sleep before your body's muscles can heal and your brain can rest.

My tinnitus keeps me awake, nightmares and flashbacks do too.

I find not going on the PC before bed helps, I learnt meditation and relaxation techniques too which help alot, also quiet relaxation music seems to work sometimes.

I cut out all stimulants too like you have, that helped alot

You're right there. But ANY kind of rest is better than nothing. That's what I do when I really can't sleep sometimes. Just completely relax the body. A little like meditating. Sometimes it works. Sometimes not.

I'm getting a meditation guide from my therapist on Monday. I'll see if that works. For now I got some Trazodone I just got today :D Hopefully this will sedate me.
