I have a problem

Seriously.

It has been raining for weeks.

My little cottage in the woods is so wet - I feel like I'm living in a swamp.

Anything made of paper is limp and soggy. My clothes are damp when I put them on!

I've got window fans to move the air, but not enough to dry things out.

I'm wondering if a de-humidifier is the answer.

What about a big box of baking soda?

Any advice from people who live in a humid climate?

Please help!!!

I know they use a lot of electricity, but you could buy yourself a clothes dryer.:)

No, that's not it.

I hang up or fold my clothes dry - after drying them in a clothes dryer.

In a day or so - they're damp.

It's that wet!!

A dehumidifier is quite good, but for the climate that you describe it'd use lots of electricity, it's expensive to run anyway. I'm currently living in a basement flat so I have similar problems to an extent :)

Dehumidifier bags are cheap and would be good for smaller enclosed spaces.

Wish I could offer more help, I know how stressful that sort of thing is.

^ thanks

It's normally NOT that humid here - weird climate this summer.

My cottage is only 500 sq ft or so - very small.

I just hate having to close up all the windows, but I don't want to try to de-humidify the entire woods.

For your case, it would seem that a dehumidifier is the most beneficial tool for you. Beyond that I'm afraid I have little to recommend. My apologies.

Stop wearing clothes? Or start a really big fire by your cottage? As the temperature goes up, the humidity should go down.

Other than that I think the Soviets experimented with ways to control the weather. Something about very fine concrete and clouds, I believe. But that would definitely cost more than running a dehumidifier.

I don't have a helpful response, sorry... but I think you might be living in the home of my dream-- by woods in a cabin that is. Please get out of my home, or at least let me stay in some cave nearby.
