In the past, my mom had social phobia.
She was afraid just like me, and couldnt leave the house.
and was very anxious .
But then she went to a breathing therapist (i'm sorry i dont know the word because of my bad english) and she did breathing exercises.
and she learned to calm down herself when she was anxious.
She could relax so good, that she didnt believe her thoughts anymore.
So everyone here, tell me, do you feel tensed sometimes?
I do alot.
And do you sweat when you are scared?
That can all be fixed with the right breathe technique.
Cuz we have to breathe through your belly, and not the chest.
Cause tell me people, WHAT IS a bigger problem, the WORSE HORRIBLE FEELING you have. or THE THOUGHTS you have?
I think the feeling is more painfull. And the right breathing trick will make you feel relax, and stop feeling that way.

BUT there is Cognitive behavior therapy, you can also train on your thoughts,
and think on the good way, but i think when you dont feel that way anymore, you even wont believe your thoughts anymore, cuz you dont feel the same way.

did you guys ever heard of ''Hyperventilation?'' 98 % of Social phobic's does have that. but they dont notice...

I'm going to go to a training soon.
To overcome.. and start a brand new life :)

A good deep breathing technique helps a lot. But CBT didn't help me much. Instead of trying to judge / change my thoughts I'm learning to just observe them.

My therapist taught me to breathe properly i.e inhaling through the nose for a count of four then exhaling through the mouth for a count of four, with the hands resting on the stomach to feel it rising. I actually felt the breathing excercise helped to calm me.

But what do you do when your lungs are in your chest and not your abdomen? :(

But yes, breathing properly has been known to relieve anxiety. Also, focusing on your breathing instead of your thoughts also helps relaxing, because you're observing your own breathing instead of rummaging through bad, unhelpful thoughts.
