Hello from Jordan

I’m Ahmed, 21m, from Jordan, and I’m so bad at this :D !
I’m basically a guy whose life is governed by fear(of judgment, ridicule, shame, rejection..etc)
I’ve been visiting SPW repeatedly for a year now but never had the guts to post as I’m afraid of being judged (even online:confused:!!) But mainly because of my not so good English

I’m agnostic/atheist. I hate religion to be honest….but I really like the idea of heaven/hell, not because I want to live forever but because some people are really just that bad…especially those who are cruel to animals .
Well, that’s about it ^__^ hopefully I wasn’t annoying
And I wanted to ask if anyone here from the Middle East?...I feel so lonely

Hello and welcome. Your English is brilliant compared with my Arabic. No, you were not annoying. Two paragraphs will usually be safe ;)

Hi and welcome!

Is there such thing is a shame culture where you are from? If so, do you think that your feelings may stem from this? By the way, your English is very good.

Yeah, er, when I said that, I meant that I don't speak any arabic whatsoever, let alone read it. ;). But whatever you said, thanks a lot. I assume it's a shining compliment. haha.

I was wondering if you're studying Arabic or if you're half Arabian
أنت كثير أمورة

Underdeveloped as in poverty, lack of water, health care and housing::(:

I know I know. I´ve been to India, I´ve been to Peru... I´ve seen how people live there. Of course it´s not a rose garden, but do you think anywhere is. I´ve heard stories of peruvians who - under the impresion everybody from the west was very rich and money grow there on the trees - went to work to the USA and wow - discovered that they earn more, but also spend more etc.. and that life there is actually not that much different or better. (For average people I mean).

Well of course, there is no hunger or shanty towns etc., but also there is much more isolation, loneliness... people for example in Peru or India, they have large families and there mothers CARE for their children, they pamper them.... I can´t imagine a mother in Peru shouting or even hitting her child! So these people grow up healthy and strong, with good self esteem. What do we have here in the west - divorces, bullying everywhere.. No togetherness, no love, no happiness.

I am not against progress or comfort in any way, just want to say it won´t necessary make people happy. Compare amazon rainforest tribes with our society - who is more happier? They eat yucca and fish, sell artesanía etc., sleep in shack but are happy. They don´t exactly need expensive cars or clothes etc. etc., for life. Just a big family, sun shining, health, strength, and skills to cope with what life brings.

Or, compare old people in India who in their very old age still ride their rickshas for a couple of rupees a day to survive.. compare them with fat, ill, depressed and lonely pensioners in the west who live in luxury houses with all possible aids and lifts and carestaff... they have everything in the material sense but no physical or psychical strenghth or ability to cope.. Sometimes I find their fate more depressing than beggars dying under the bridge..

Not saying I would like to end up like this, god forbid , but this was honestly my impression whilst walking on the streets of towns like Varanasi :)

Tbh., on my travels I envied anyone and everyone. I´ve never seen anyone worse off than me.

this can be very true. i often think that i would be happier living a much simpler life. when i take a tent out into the wild with close friends and live off the land for awhile i feel almost at peace. i leave behind all my worries and just appreciate the simple beauty around me. then when i come back to my job and busy city life it depresses me again. I keep thinking what do i really need all this money for because having a car and a big house means nothing to me.

Come to think about, we do have lower suicide rate compared to people in the west...so you're absolutely right...except for this part

I don't understand why would you say that? you're very Insightful
and I have no doubt that you're a very lovely person

I know what you mean; money, fancy car, big house..etc they're just things
but I believe(and I think you do too) that we need these things...they hold a value.
the smart person won't attach himself to them but would know how to use them to get what he wants.

I would say good things are like fire. If used sensibly, they are of help - if misused or we get attached to them, they destroy us.

And thanks to what you said :). If I am lovely or not makes no difference to me as it does not guarantee happiness.
