Goodbyes...

Goodbye the hopes that proved a lie
And yesteryear's spark that's left to die
Goodbye the love that never was
What never was but now is lost

Goodbye the boy not grown to man
The sapling torn, cut and rent
Goodbye the freedom I've yet to taste
My will is gone in life's senseless haste

Goodbye the faith that once burned bright
The retreating light by the coming night
Goodbye the dreams of the youth of old
When they woke to find the world so cold

Where is the life I've yet to live
And the love that flows I've yet to give?
The better future I've once held dear...
I've reached that place, there's nothing here...

Flickering candle and a whispering wind
The dying flames reaching and breathing
In the final hours of twilight's fight
As the shadows grow, weave and flow

How bright it shines in these waning hours
Brighter than the sun in this darkest prison
How fragile the light that dance and shifts
Softer than its memories of brighter days

Alas the wind, without, within
As it hopes to shine just one last time
Alas the sands who are running thin
Perhaps, perchance for one last rhyme.

A sense of life not being what one thought it would be, of wasted time, and of wanting to leave some sort of legacy before one's time is up. I'm Tiercel, and I approve this message.

(Several years ago they passed a law here in the USA requiring all political ads to disclose who runs them. So most ads on tv end with "I'm (insert useless politician's name here) and I approve this message." So those of you outside the US are now privy to yet another bad joke.)

haha..... ok...

I am Tiercel and I approve this message
For amongst the women, I'm all the rage
With my so fine, oh ardent candor
They queue in line to be my suitor

Who knows the lore of the second war
Yea, the lion of men and so much more
With a guitar's strum and a dragon's roar
They hear the song of 'caveat emptor'

The sage of yore still standing tall
The envy of lesser men and all
Oh ye little men, please do take umbrage
For I am Tiercel and I approve this message

(Just kidding!)
