going to see a job coach

Hiya,

I'm going to see a job coach on 1 November.
My counselor and her will be there talking with me.
Talking about what kind of Job I would like to find.
And What kind of study I want to do. (at school).
I'm really nervous, because i have the feeling that i need to prove myself
that I can do a job, because I'm afraid I'll mess it up.
And that I will become really anxious at the conversation.
But I will try my best.. , I hope it will go fine.... :)

Hey, me too. :3

Those people are usually very understanding. Incidentally I've got my (second) appointment tomorrow.

Good luck, Flower! I'm sure you'll do just fine. ;3

That's good. No matter how out of place you might feel, you'll feel better for it in the end.

Good luck

I was also thinking about it, but they are terribly expensive. Can't imagine what the result would be anyway, as I consider myself quite unhelpable.

Good for you!!

Don't expect too much, someone I know didn't have much luck with job coaches and such... So you are also there to see if you click with them and if they can even help you.. It's like a job interview (for both of you!) - you are just getting to know each other and to see if working together could be helpful!

I think someone who can also appreciate your artistic personality and give you some advice on that too could probably be best..

For example, when thinking about a job it's good to consider things like 'Would it give you enough freedom and peace of mind to pursue singing' (some jobs like teaching at a loud school or any other very stressful jobs can be stressful on the voice and I wouldn't recommend them.. On the other hand some people enjoy teaching music or giving singing/music lessons privately or in private or 'state' music school/s along with singing..)

With your interest in SA, maybe psychology could be an interesting field too.. Or something like music therapy.. not sure how well it pays over there though.. (in USA I heard it's an expensive study and low pay jobs..)

For me it was easiest to also do singing when I was working in a small office.. I don't have the training to teach music, though I sometimes wondered if it wouldn't be better than eg trying to teach big classes in state schools or just working in a stressful 'corporate' environment with difficult deadlines and work hours etc..

It's basically *you* who will have to discover things and try out or learn about interesting jobs or talk to people doing them.. Have you read the book 'What color is your parachute?' I very much recommend it..
You will only know if you can do a job when you actually work that job... You already have some experience with some stuff that other people don't.. like international communication, online networking, YouTube videos... that is quite interesting for companies and businesses today too!! I think you have a lot to offer!!

The coach can be just additional help along the road...
Maybe seeing it that way can be more relaxing?

A job coach, I've never heard of them. But they sound awesome! I could definitely do with one of those! I bet you have to pay quite a bit of money though, guess I should start saving hehe
