Feel weird around people, especially my face expression

Hello,

We have some visitors here, and they are my aunt and uncle.
I know I can trust them, but I just walked away because I get so awkward around them, my facional expressions get so tensed and my cheeks are red and I act like an idiot. especially when they are talking about sad subjects.
I don't know. it's just so awkward. i don't know how to act.
where to look at, what to say.. :(
i just look like a trip chicken, i always act like this, i act crazey, i act so stupid just really nervous, like nerve wracking myself

how can i be able to control this, ever?

I have the same issues with my face! Lol, I never even dreamed that others would do that, too. Sometimes I try to mimick other people's facial expressions, like, find someone with a calm-looking face and copy that...I haven't been trying this for very long, though, so I don't know how well it works. Other times I just step aside briefly and concentrate on relaxing my face, then going back to interactions.

heh, the holidays can be a bit stressful.. and I hate it if people talk too much about sad topics too, especially if it's at lunch time or dinner time, at the table...
so, you don't have to be cheerful if it's sad topics.. it's okay to be awkward.. or leave, if it gets too bad.. You can sympathize, and just say 'oh', 'aha', 'oh dear', 'uhmm..' or such... (this may encourage them to talk about it though)
Or maybe you can change the topic and start talking about something more cheerful or neutral? maybe something that is slightly related, or just something new, like, 'Do you know what I heard/saw on TV the other day?'
Are there any topics you and your relatives are both interested in?
Older people like to talk about old times, sometimes, and I get grandma to tell me about those things... (instead of the horrible things she saw on the news or in her favorite TV series, or her or other people's illnesses or any recent deaths or such...)
It depends what kind of things they like to talk about...

a trip chicken LoL what does that mean? I always drink more at the holidays if I have to be around lots of people, makes me less self-aware and them more interesting :) no i don't advocate alcohol abuse though.

you should do some comedy stuff I think your funny! xo

I have a blank-neutral expression for times like that, well-practiced because I use it all the time.

Lol with trip chicken, I mean like a trippin person who is acting crazy like a chicken tripping :p. Lol i love comedy, a little funshine ;)
But drinking.. yeah. it reduces the anxiety, well with xmas i can sure drink some drinks, but like Phocas, I should learn to control my facional expression, like neutral.. but I still don't know, how to be able to hold that face for such a long time lol.

thanks feathers, i just love your posts, they are really inspiring... really :)
You should write a book lol. You are very good at giving tips or ideas!!
yeah, i always want to sound like i'm interested in what they are sayin, but i dont want to get too much into it too, because sad topics just are hard for me to handle.. but of course its a subject of the day too.. But i can talk better about that 1 to 1 person.. but not like in a group.. I feel already shakin when people look at me all at the same time. aarrgh. but I need to get used to that if i want to follow my dreams and become a singer.. o_O...
But anyways, I hope I can get used to be in the middle of attention.. Because thats my fear :-/. all eyes lookin at me.. and me presenting like nerve wracking as hell , stuttering and showing my anxiety so much.. I wish i could be the confident person I am on my vids for example on youtube.. On the laptop i can act whomever confident i wanna be.. but thats me.. too.. so i can do it.. but still i feel so awkward around too many people.. :/
but i know theres a way because i feel comfortable by myself or less people :D but still.. need to get to that point ;)

@ zoya: yeah i try it too, look calm or relaxed.. but still ..im messing it up lol :p but its just a way of becoming strong enough to handle that.. welcome to the forums btw !! :)
