Dreams

My dreams are very real most of the time - as real as waking life

I've literally lived years at night in a dream, only to be surprised to find myself awake the next morning after the night i first went to bed

I've had intense love affairs in dreams, only to feel the very real pangs of heartache upon waking

I'm sure i'm not the only one....

A great gift indeed. Though waking up to find yourself alone again is extremely disappointing like you said.

or perhaps we are all dreaming now...

is the reality of this world real?

what makes it so?

simply because we say it is?

Consistency and order. The laws of this world can be understood by the conscious mind. They make 'sense' or at least are fairly consistent so that the identity of the person can always transition smoothly. The other side is the reality of the subconscious. As symbols are the essence of the other side, the concrete (or 'real') are the essence of this one.

The conscious mind is in the back seat taking a show in the dream world, absorbing, watching. So that it can function in this world. The subconscious is the one in the back seat in the 'real world'.

Or at least that's what a recent book I've read says. Lol.. interestingly enough, it's a book on drawing for beginners, not a book on philosophy.

Weird, i was reading about lucid dreaming yesterday and as my dreams i generally am pretty poor at remembering thought it would be a good start to try and write them down when i wake up.

The page said a pretty good method to at least remember your dream is to set an alarm a number of hours after you sleep, i tried 5, you then wake up possibly in the middle of a dream and if you totally concentrate on that past dream you can go back into it sort of thing with the intention of remembering it's a dream, while in it.

What actually happened is i couldn't get to sleep, kept waking up and turned off the alarm before it went off so i could just get some sleep lol.....but it did give me loads of dreams, i've yet to actually have ever needed an alarm in my life...usually wake up just before it.

Anyway the last one i wrote down and i'll quote in my half asleep, note speech "Had a package delivered outside while doing something (i was on our drive can't remember why) doing something with pins (i noticed i had pins stuck in my trouser legs) he maneuvered a bit (in car) not delivery van...estate car. Kept getting/losing signature slip, kept sticking to my knee...eventually did it...ended writing, Nice Guy!!!"

That's generally what my dreams are like no wonder i struggle to differentiate them from past memories, that 'note speech' makes it sound more mundane but i couldn't remember enough to make it into a nice story and was trying to be quick. Interesting!
