don't really want to go to the party

One of my friends is having a party. We used to be best friends but now were just friends. She didn't even go to my party at the last minute because of work. I was thinking of saying the same thing. Last year I had one friend go to her party but they got in a fight and are not friends right now. I wouldn't know anyone and they seem to know eachother so I just would not say anything. I barely even said anything the last time when I knew that one person. Should I force myself to go or make up an excuse? :/

You're obligated to go. If you want to go, then go:). If not, tell your friend that you don't want to show up and explain why. I'm sure that they'll understand. If not, then, maybe they aren't as much of a friend that you think they are. Remember, you don't owe anyone anything.

I think you would feel better about it if you "showed your face." You don't have to stay long. Just show up, raid the snack table, and tell your friend you have to go to a family function, or something. Make it a goal to stay 20 minutes, and who knows, you might hold out longer!
