Does your confidence ebb and flow for seemingly no reason?

This happens to me on occasion, I'll be confident for seemingly no reason at all, perhaps it's a chemical thing, or maybe a non-awkward interaction I had. The most recent thing that exemplifies this was when I went to a drug store and to pick up some hygiene stuff.

The cashier at the register greeted me affably, (she was pretty nice looking too), I kept the conversation going decently, although I wish I had done better. I think confidence can have a drastic effect on how people react to you, as I'm sure my non-confident body language, non-conversational behavior puts off new people until I get to know them better. Anyone else feel this way?

I think a lot of confidence depends on the people that are around you. When people act like they like you and want to talk to you, it helps your confidence.

mine does yeah. somedays I feel on top of the world like I can do anything, lots of confidence. Other times I don't at all. I really hope to get better at being stable in my levels of self-esteem. I think it's like anything the better you feel for longer periods the easier it is to maintain that good level. Practice doing things that your good at with people who appreciate you. seems simple-isn't always.

I know what you mean, and I also have no idea why this happens.

I guess if your having a good day, that can put you in a less stressed out mood. Maybe being in a less stressed frame of mind can enable you to act slightly more confident?

Yeah, although it's usually triggered by a single event. I go between extremely low confidence and pretty decently high confidence.

Although I tend to have mood swings anyways. Like bipolar, but not exactly.

Well, it's definitely possible. I know I'm easily effected by stress, so...could be something to your theory.

Yes, I'm tidal. How I'm sleeping has a big effect on how I feel. Another is not having regular alone time, being around other people up my batteries and I need to recharge. And sunshine.
