I'm in holidays this month and some friend of mine just invited me yesterday to cross the board and go fishing to italy! Well i confess i wasn't to much excited with the idea! Yet i got a very good surprise! Is a sport u can do alone (and have fun) or invite a friend to come along! As i'm just giving first baby steps...i would like to know if anyone does fishing?

I haven't gone fishing in ages, but I do love it. I find it pretty calming, and then it's so exciting once you get a bite and start reeling the fish in. :)

Ohh~ being raised by first nation grandparents in the summers of my youth, I was taught how to fish.
I stopped fishing in grade 7 when I became vegetarian because the purpose of fishing (to them) was to feed yourself and if I wasn't going to eat it, it would be silly to put the fish in any pain for my own pleasure.

My family still fish often, I just prefer to watch/swim instead.

I've to be embarrassed cause we went to lake her we pay to fish! They just put there fish...and it should be just getting them from there!! 3hours...and nothing!!

Is this normal??? How it's in other places that we dont even know how much it's!! But the good part is just...sit there, relax, get into some music...and then arrive at home with some good natural fish!!

Any advices to start?

Have to say that the part of seeing the fish dying is not so much fun! But it would be dead anyway...is not like i dont go to the supermarket : P

I can't fish or hunt , if i had to kill for my own meat i would have to turn vegetarian , the only reason i'm still eating it is for the proteins and fat , don't know any good alternatives.

It's true that i continue to encourage people to kill them for me , some of them even take pleasure doing so , it saddens me to see an animal get beaten to death in intense pain , but i still continue to eat meat , out of selfishness ..

It's the circle of life~ you shouldn't feel too bad.
Just use as much of the animal as you can to honor it's death rather than to waste it.

We live in the world that all that surround us is killing, stealing or lying. From your levi's made in china to the animals that are beaten to us survive.....it as been this for centuries...and if it wasn't we probably wouldn't be here speaking, at least as one good reason : )

U are almost getting me off the will to fish : P What a guy with SP have to do to have fun?? : P

I love love love to fish. We do catch and release fly fishing here for trout. I have fished a ton over the last 16 yrs and it's the best way to spend the day.
I don't know what kind of fishing there is in Italy tbh. I started a post your fishing pic thread here when I first joined but nobody did it lol
have fun!

The best tips you can get for fishing in your area would probably be at either a bait shop/ fishing supply store or a boat rental.
Fishermen tend to be pretty laid back and friendly- and like to talk about their sport in general.
They know the best spots to look at and I'm sure they would be willing to share much more of their wisdom as long as you're willing to ask and listen to them.

Otherwise-- there's the good old technique of trial and error!
