Do you spend way too much time laying down?

I spend way too much time laying down for a 23 year old. I don't have a job and only go out at night so I'm sleeping all day long and even if I don't go out at night and I'm awake early the next day I'm just laying down in the couch. I'm amazed that I don't have bed sores. I can't wait till I get one of the jobs I applied for so I can get myself out in the real world with the rest of society. I MUST get use to being around people!

Ohh... I suppose you may be agoraphobic, then?

I never got bed sores perse - but I do remember feeling so stiff and sore and uncomfortable in my bed after staying there for several days without doing much movement.
It's important to get more exercise and to stand and walk, especially; to keep yourself from getting sore muscles and bones.

The more you exercise- the more energy you'll have. (generally)

Good luck job hunting!
Do your best!

Consider yourself lucky that you have the luxury at 23 to lay around. Depression CA. Bring on a lack of motivation but life's demands can make us put our emotions on the backburner. I wish I was able to lay around all day but if the redundancy of being a couch potato is making you more down then I suggest running. I live near a park that 3 miles long so I usually force myself to go around twice. You will feel yourself get more motivation over time and it might help your mood. Again be grateful you have the down time

I do feel lucky that I do have a place to stay and that I'm not forced to pay bills but I've always thought if I was forced to support myself that maybe I could mature more and also get a better grip on my fear of being around people. It's so weird everytime I go outside my house I feel like some kind of new born like I've never seen anything around me even though I've lived in this city my whole life. I went to this little party the othernight and this guy asked me where you been hiding? I just laughed because that's exactly what I'm doing.

I don't spend too much time laying down when I have things to do like work. But on the weekends and my days off I end up sleeping a lot. I think the main reason is that I just prefer being asleep to being awake so it's difficult for me to feel motivated.

If you're concerned about the amount of time that you're laying down you could always try making a schedule for yourself where you get up at a certain time and find things to do during the day. They could be anything (preferably something that you enjoy, otherwise you won't be very motivated to keep to your schedule) like gardening, walking around the building you live in or if you're comfortable with it longer walks, exercising around home (you can find some things online that don't involve buying expensive equipment), tidying etc. Whatever might keep you busy but not stress you out.

If you've been laying down a lot then it might take a little while for your body to get used to being more active. But I think the key is to do a little bit at a time and still let yourself take rests if you need them.

The more you lay down the more your body will feel tired and lazy, you should do at least 30 min of workout daily , you don't need any equipment , just do body weight exercises and cardio , it will make all the difference in the world .

Might also be the food you eat , eating the wrong food can make you sleep all day.

That first time is hard , but get up and put on some motivating music , get that body moving.

That motivates me for some reason. I think I'll do that xD

Great !

There are so many ways to exercise , if one doesn't suit you , find another one , i have recently discovered power yoga , and its an amazing workout .

I highly recommend the p90x DVDs , it's really easy and motivating to not have to think about what to do , just put the DVD in and follow the group , it's quite an intense workout but you can always slow down and do it at your level.

There is also a ton of free videos on youtube to get new ideas of workouts.

To be honest I probably do.I just have no motivation to work out or do anything. I went from being in peak physical condition to a lifeless blob.
