Do people look to the floor when you pass by?

I'm at the sidewalk, I notice there is a person coming opposite way. I glance at the person, the person look at the floor.

That is happening a lot, specially with woman, why people do that?

Is everibody social phobic at the world now? Or do I scare them?

****ing sad world, I wish I could live at an Island at the caribbean and spend my days alone, drinking coconut water and laying down at the sea breeze...Ah...And with all the books and films of the world. I could have an internet connection too, and for sure I could have a jetski also! A guitar too.. ok, I will stop now...

I need some rest and music...

Thanks folks, you can look at the floor now.

ha I haven't noticed really. I gues it's because I am usually the one staring into the ground. But it's totally normal for most people to avoid eye contact with strangers because that's just a social convention rather than them being terrified of eye contact.

Hmm tomorrow I'll keep count of how many people avoid a 2 second glance. Should be an interesting experiment =)

What usually happens is people see me, look down on the ground until they're about within 2 seconds of passing me, and look up (and pass me).

Well I noticed around here that if I am anxious/nervous that person will get that way also, unless they are the asshole type, somehow they mistake this as looking for trouble or defying them, then they will give you a dirty look.

Maybe people look away from you because they can tell you're nervous, or because you seem uncomfortable. A lot of times other people get uncomfortable when they see others who are uncomfortable. I wish that would happen to me lol. I'm usually the one looking down, but when I'm not, people always look at me, & I always look away. People won't leave me alone, even though I'm sure they can see my discomfort.
