what i hate is crossing the street in the crosswalk in a intersection! i feel like everyone is staring at me. so most of the time i would jaywalk somewhere away from there so its more dangerous and illegal (ticket is $100) if caught. and there are crazy drivers here that dont care about pedestrians so i sometimes stare them down cuz i dont know if they are going to hit me

Crossing the street scares me if it's a bigger street. I'm terrified of crossing the street at a crosswalk, especially on an intersection or busy street. If I have to cross a highway (which I try to avoid), I avoid the crosswalks. People always stare, or at least I feel like they do, as I'm crossing. I feel like I'm under a spotlight. I've even had people get mad at me for walking in crosswalks, even while the light was red. The people driving pay no attention half the time to crosswalks, anyway. I was almost ran over once by some guy, while in a crosswalk. I was in the middle of the crosswalk, he came speeding out of nowhere & beeping incessantly trying to make me move out of the way. I was IN the crosswalk; that's what they're there for, but the drivers don't care. I'm always worried about being ran over (even before that happened) & that's one reason I'm afraid to cross the street.

I live on a very busy main street. In the early mornings, around 7-8 am and the evenings around 5 or so, cars can be backed up for quite a while. And when I step out of the house, I would imagine everyone waiting in their vehicles are just totally staring at me while I walk out of the house and onto the sidewalk.

However, since I have to leave the house everyday, I've gotten a lot better to the point where it's not a big deal anymore and I don't feel quite as anxious or have thoughts that people are staring at me.

I am actually okay crossing the street. I guess it's because I go to school in the city. I don't have a choice!

I hate crossing busy and small streets. If me and a car get there at the same time, it's always a little awkward. Therefore, I will make sure the coast is totally clear before crossing.

I hated walking home from HS because some people are just fucking rude. Pedestrians have the right away at a busy intersection (pedestrian walk sign flashing go) and this one time one person yelled 'watch where you are going,' even though he was the moron who had to wait.

When crossing the street I usually think that the people in the cars are staring at me and making fun of me as I walk by.

I used to have a lot of trouble with this, but I live near downtown, so I do a lot of walking and a lot of crossing. You get used to it.

It's good to be a little nervous when you're going to cross, because you're a soft fleshy person treading into the territory of two ton death machines. That's what you have to pay attention to. Watch the signals, look both ways, etc. The people driving them, not so much.

People are not staring at you. They're generally paying more attention to their stereo, checking themselves in the mirror, talking on the phone (grr!), thinking about what they're going to do when they get to their destination, etc. You're just a momentary blip on their radar. There one minute, gone the next, never to be thought about again.

If a driver gives you shit about doing something entirely normal like using a crosswalk or making sure they see you before crossing at a stop sign, give them the finger. They are assholes of the worst sort, and they deserve it. Their rage has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them being forced to think, for one second, about something other than themselves.

I used to have to cross the street everyday last year when I walked home from school. It was a really busy street and the crosswalk was too far away so I had to like run across the street sometimes. There are a lot of people speeding right there so it's kind of crazy. I've almost gotten hit a couple of times, getting honked at it really like embarrassing. Maybe it was because I was stupid and crossed at the wrong time, but I could swear I always timed it right.

Luckily I don't have to do that anymore. Thank god! I had the most awful feeling of people staring at me. I always got this shakey feeling straight down through my body. I really just wanted to put my head down and hide so no one could see me.
