Become an auto mechanic. You won't have to deal with the public too much, and you will always be in demand because people are always going to drive cars. Plus, you'll never get ripped off when your own car needs repair.

And, that's one job they can't outsource, offshore, or leverage for alignment with global markets.

I kind of agree with Icarus.....although I TOTALLY know how daunting it is to choose a career with lots of social situations in!.....but I'm in a similar situation now, choosing new possible careers.....and I have a list....the one's at the top involve the biggest challenge and if I can do them, I'd come out the other side totally cured of social anxiety......but the ones at the bottom are back ups just incase I find it too hard.......

so things like truck/delivery driving or being a postman are at the bottom....but one on one jobs could include councelling, psychologist, private teachers, therapists, maybe working at a call centre, or a doctor often works one on one

hmm....don't know if that helps?! but I would encourage you to be bold with your career choices! go out on a limb....that's where all the fruit is!! ;)

I'd advise against small businesses in a factory or shop, simply because you are constantly involved in the politics of the running of the company and the stresses the owners go through the difference being the owners make money on profit margin against material in a financial year, you may earn a wage that is completely different to them, so i dont think you should have to be felt that you are responsible for too much and in a setting like that often you will ...

Any stuff-ups, setbacks by management you'll hear about it, and do you really need that stress on top of already working you fingers to the bone ..

also you feel obligated to stick around for lunch, so you cant just go off on your break all the time because you may feel like your offending the small group that work there and have a routine of "Eating lunch together" and "What to Eat" and "share" so often your day is out of control and you feel you always have to ask the owners to do as you feel on your breaks etc ...

you'll also find that you will do overtime alot in a small business and they'll just say "can you stay back a half hour or an hour?" and unless you have a great excuse, you'll often just take the slaps and say "yeh ok" ..
