awkward situation

Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone has been in a similiar situation.
Today I saw a co-worker I just met last week in public and didn't recognise her. I stared right through her as she waved kinda uncertainly at me. It was only after sitting across from her at the next table in the restarant did I realise who it was.
Haaa whoops :/
Weirdest thing was I saw her two days ago in a completely different place and we waved and smiled like bestmates.
Ha so thinking I have to explain this lack of recognition so she doesn't hate me... aha

Yeah, it happens. I've seen people out and not recognised them instantly.

Next time you see her, just say that you didn't recognise her. You were in your own world. She'll understand.

I hate a lack of recognition. It is natural to get it right.

I like to wonder if any failure is beyond our control... hardware of ourselves... eyes, hearing, brain, or if our mistakes are cause by our own decisions

I tend to map any known face to someone else if they look very similar
I remember faces well, but hate a fail to remember a name. It's embarrassing. I can't ever ask what their name is again, but it does work

Build as much stringent detail about a person as you can gather. Can be hard work. If you find out, but then over time you forget

I don't like the 'smile' & wave behaviour - it's not enough. I need reason and detail

I've been in these types of situation a lot. Many times, someone would wave to or say hi to me but I didn't respond. Sometimes I'm just not sure if they are waving to me or, I was so used to being alone that that when someone says hi to me, it takes me many seconds to realize what has happened. In fact, I've been called slow by people before. They ask me a question and it takes me like 1 minute before I answer. It's like my brain is so socially slow.

And sometimes, I was not in the mood to say hi to people so I just didn't do it, which is rude I know.
