Are you blind?

Do you have any free software that you can recommend me? I use the firefox web browser. I'm slowly, well not so slowly losing my sight. So yeah... even if you're not blind, any help will be appreciated.

This is not good to hear ::(:, what's the cause? I can recall some open source software that may suit, I'll attempt to find it again.

maybe this?

Orca is a free, open source, flexible, and extensible screen reader that provides access to the graphical desktop via user-customizable combinations of speech, braille, and magnification.

oh gosh Dronee, PLEASE be on the internet and on the computer less!!

I know it's not easy (and who's speaking?) but your EYES are really very important!!
Go take a walk, look at something GREEN, Nature, trees, flowers...

Take rests from computer, that is the MOST important!!

Also, palm relaxation techniques - do you know them?

blink enough, make sure the air is not too dry and there is enough humidity, especially when you use heating, so your eyes are not too dry either.. that you're hydrated.. some vitamins & minerals are important too..

when my eyesight was going odd, the best thing to do was take a rest - even if just lie down in darkness.. and if there's worries, write in a journal and do CBT.. EFT sometimes helped with the eyesight too..

maybe have a day or a few without computer, you'll see how you'll feel?

Hey thanks. You too Feathers. I'll try.

Hmm... I don't know really.. can't really afford the doctor now. I just feel pain in my right eye especially. And it's all foggy. Right now, I guess it's an amusing exercise to see if my heart pains will actually kill me.

Hey Dronee, please don't joke with your health.. Get off the computer, like, asap... (I will too..) Once you mentioned it my eyes started feeling tense too - we often forget about these things and pressure on, but what for?

Sorry if I upset you with my ramblings in the chat, didn't mean to... And do you mean actual pains in the chest? Could it be 'just' anxiety? Can you get pumpkinseeds or any other easy source of magnesium? (Magnesium is good for the heart too..)

Take at least a few days off and then if it doesn't get better see if you can find a doctor on Monday? There are some free options, at least where I live.. See if there's anything locally? Or (after you take it easy and RELAX and rest) at least post at a forum where people with knowledge of medical help post?

Imagine how RELAXED you'll be once this all clears out and things get better... Or remember a good place in the past where things were well? (I've found this helpful, at times..)

I've looked at some NLP things online and some videos on YouTube seem quite helpful, if one's been feeling unmotivated/uninspired.. (But that's for AFTER you've rested?!!) You made me feel better and more inspired today too, so if I can return the favor please tell..

We may be at a not-so-great place in our lives right now, but things CAN get better!! They usually do, anyway...

We know someone who had problems with eye and had to be operated, so this is not something to be taken 'lightly'.. (and sometimes the operations succeed, sometimes not..) Kristina on this forum had eye problems too, she got to a doctor and then got better.. If you can heal it by rest it's better than having to see a doctor, no??

Please take care, Dronee... You're a great person and you deserve to have healthy eyes...

I'm very sorry to hear about this. Do you have any idea what's causing it? I do have a degenerative eye problem but I expect it's not as severe.

Doesn't Windows Vista have that software that reads out text? it's in the ease of access centre under control panel i think.

I use QZoom (for Windows). It's not really a revolutionary solution for your problem, but it's a handy little program that alows you to zoom in anywhere (in real time). I use it all the time when I can't read anything.

It's very similar to what the Mac can do.

Good luck, Dronee. Vision problems aren't nice at all. I hope a solution presents itself soon. :c
