Are you a Highly Sensitive Person?

I've wondered if I've got emotional sensitivity. I don't necessarily have all the traits, but everything always did go straight to my heart. It can be tough to deal with. It's improved slightly over time in some ways. I think fighting back helps to a certain extent.
My mom, on the other hand, isn't emotionally but very physically sensitive--she can't stand bright lights, loud noise, she gets affected by smells, etc. way moreso than the rest of us.

I checked 11... but of those 11 most were VERY much true. So still possibly a bit over sensitive but....

I've never really thought of me as really a sensitive person much. But people sure treat me like I am. People seem to think I'm some fragile boy thats gonna go shoot himself if they tell me anything negative or if I do anything wrong. In a way it was helpful though cause I'm sure I'd be sure I'd have been fired from my job if they didn't htink I was so sensitive (I'm not really they just think I am)

You know... speaking of introverts... most would probably classify me as an introvert and I guess I am but I really feel like a closeted extrovert. Under the right circumstances, I'll be the wild crazy one.

And while I'm often alone, I hate it. All I want in life is friends to do crazy stuff with. Do something dangerous and exciting.

Sketchy24 I can identify with what you're saying. I have lived this introverted life for a long time yet, it's not really me! I'm wild and crazy and at times I've shown this! But, those times are usually short and long between. I usually go back to over-thinking things. Anyway, life is short. So, I'm working on letting go and just having some fun!

I got a 14. I tend to get more sensitive to criticism then anything else, personally I like violent action movies, stuff like that doesn't bother me. I wonder though, when someone gets really emotional I try to avoid them as it makes me uncomfortable does that make me sensitive or insensitive?

That's me as well. I have a wild and crazy side just waiting to bust free. But even when I am with crazy friends, I just can't seem to let loose. Maybe I feel like I have to balance them out somehow, or maybe it's just that I've gotten such a reputation for being the calm quiet one of the group that I just couldn't be anything else around them.

But as to the original post, I got an 11. I don't think I'm that sensitive in general, but to criticism I guess I can be... I hate being wrong or bad at things... Oh yeah and I don't like emotional people either. Like if someone's crying or something, I can sympathize, but I just have no idea what to say, so I just kind of sit there...

16 here. I can take violence&caffeine&business& though.

I'm really sensitive, but I cover it up quite well; being cynical&creating walls/distance better than those at Alcatraz.

I never knew if I was highly sensitive. Yes and no, hard to say. I also wasn´t sure how to answer many questions in the test. Plus I don´t know what the effects of caffeine on me would be because I don´t drink coffee, and don´t know what means to "go off by myself". Anyway I tried to do the test and got 14 points, which is exactly the middle.

One thing I wanted to say, I think people who scored high on the test are very likely to be aspergers. Aspergers are very sensitive to noises and light, especially fluorescent lightning (I am not sensitive to light or fluorescent light, noises bother me sometimes extremely, other times not that much - especially I hate the sound of TV from the next room - it freaks me out).
