Anyone tried driving lessons?

I had a driving lesson today... and the guy yammered on so much it gave me a headache. With my anxiety I couldn't focus

By the time I had a go I didn't know what the **** I was doing. Clutch/Handbrake/Blindspot/Gears/Mirrors/Brake/Indicator it's all so much. I had to pull over and wind the window down and take a breath!

The driving itself wasn't so bad. But the instructiors talked and talked so much I couldn't possibly process what he was saying. He started to describe the anatomy of the clutch, and I was la la la by this point.

He booked me up a second lesson without even asking me if I wanted to do another. So annoyed!

Yeah I did a few weeks ago, I know the feeling. At first it was okay but I was making a few mistakes when turning and the man totally went off...
My instructor was pretty normal, just asked generic questions about my hobbies and school and taught me how to drive

Hero, speak to your instructor beforehand (in a nice way) that too much conversation is distracting, at least initially when you're learning the fundamentals of driving.

You've just started driving so you've got lots more to go yet, and I promise it gets easier and easier. :)

Here you are legally obligated to take a certain number of driving lessons, 20 or more (I'm not sure). The talking didn't really bother me, but I did notice I sweated a lot from my back, even though I'm the kind of guy who doesn't sweat much.

I did feel a bit more at ease during the lessons because the instructor was like a safety net. I tend to panic quickly if something goes wrong when I'm driving by myself or with passengers now that I don't have that safety net. I haven't driven in a year now at least.

Learning to drive is a bitch to the max! Social Anxiety or not.

Your instructor does sound like a bit of a nob though. If you're not happy with him then change. You're the customer. It's you who's in control. ;-)

Stick with it though man. We've all been there. I hated it but so glad I saw it through. Never have to worry about that again now.

Just worry about the constant expense of running a motor car compared to a bicycle!! Lol
